With Halloween steadily creeping up on us (only 15 days until the big day, kiddies!), you may be on the hunt for some great horror movies to enjoy for the duration of the month (sure, most of us watch genre movies year-round, but it somehow feels more special during the Halloween season). Over the last few weeks, our “From Streams to Screams” series has offered up hundreds of streaming suggestions—everything from vampires and werewolves to the supernatural to anthological horror to even films that will leave you saying, “WTF?” once they're over.

So for today’s “From Streams to Screams,” this writer thought it was the perfect time to celebrate all of the great horror movies that have come out over the last 20 years, proving that while they may not make them like they used to, there are still plenty of filmmakers creating great genre fare that are well worth your time.

Check out this rundown of 66 different contemporary horror classics, and I hope you find some new favorite movies amongst these most excellent titles.

Suspiria (2018) (Available on Amazon Prime)

A darkness swirls at the center of a world-renowned dance company, one that will engulf the troupe's artistic director, an ambitious young dancer, and a grieving psychotherapist. Some will succumb to the nightmare. Others will finally wake up.

After over one hundred years of service, The Yankee Pedlar Inn is shutting its doors for good. The last remaining employees -Claire and Luke - are determined to uncover proof of what many believe to be one of New England's most haunted hotels. As the Inn's final days draw near, odd guests check in as the pair of minimum wage "ghost hunters" begin to experience strange and alarming events.

Based on the terrifying best-seller by Scott Smith, "The Ruins" follows a group of friends who become entangled in a brutal struggle for survival after visiting a remote archaeological dig in the Mexican jungle where they discover something deadly living among the ruins.

When her husband’s sex game goes wrong, Jessie – handcuffed to a bed in a remote lake house – faces warped visions, dark secrets and a dire choice.

Hell House LLC (Available on Amazon Prime & Tubi TV)

On October 8th, 2009 a haunted house attraction opened its doors to the public in upstate New York. The entire crew was found dead, except for one. Five years later a documentary crew found her...and the video footage from inside the house.

100 Bloody Acres (Available on Amazon Prime)

100 Bloody Acres is an inspired horror-comedy about the Morgan brothers, Reg and Lindsay, who have bolstered their organic fertilizer business by adding a novel ingredient to their secret blend: human blood and bones. Until now the brothers have relied on the dead victims of car accidents, but unfortunately it's been months since their last find and a customer is impatiently waiting for delivery.
