With Halloween steadily creeping up on us (only 15 days until the big day, kiddies!), you may be on the hunt for some great horror movies to enjoy for the duration of the month (sure, most of us watch genre movies year-round, but it somehow feels more special during the Halloween season). Over the last few weeks, our “From Streams to Screams” series has offered up hundreds of streaming suggestions—everything from vampires and werewolves to the supernatural to anthological horror to even films that will leave you saying, “WTF?” once they're over.

So for today’s “From Streams to Screams,” this writer thought it was the perfect time to celebrate all of the great horror movies that have come out over the last 20 years, proving that while they may not make them like they used to, there are still plenty of filmmakers creating great genre fare that are well worth your time.

Check out this rundown of 66 different contemporary horror classics, and I hope you find some new favorite movies amongst these most excellent titles.

Suspiria (2018) (Available on Amazon Prime)

A darkness swirls at the center of a world-renowned dance company, one that will engulf the troupe's artistic director, an ambitious young dancer, and a grieving psychotherapist. Some will succumb to the nightmare. Others will finally wake up.

Little Monsters (2019) (Available on Hulu)

A film dedicated to all the kindergarten teachers who motivate children to learn, instill them with confidence and stop them from being devoured by zombies.

The Lords of Salem (Available on Tubi TV)

When a local DJ plays a mysterious record from "The Lords," evil forces from a Salem, Massachusetts legend unleash terror upon the modern-day town.

Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon (Available on Shudder)

In this clever mockumentary, a camera crew follows an aspiring slasher movie killer.

American Psycho (Available on Netflix)

With chiseled good looks that belie his insanity, a businessman takes pathological pride in yuppie pursuits and indulges in sudden homicidal urges.

The Innkeepers (Available on Amazon Prime)

After over one hundred years of service, The Yankee Pedlar Inn is shutting its doors for good. The last remaining employees -Claire and Luke - are determined to uncover proof of what many believe to be one of New England's most haunted hotels. As the Inn's final days draw near, odd guests check in as the pair of minimum wage "ghost hunters" begin to experience strange and alarming events.

Beyond the Gates (Available on Hulu)

Dice turn deadly when two brothers fight to survive a nightmarish role-playing game run by a sinister host (Barbara Crampton) in this throwback thriller.

The Sixth Sense (Available on Netflix)

When a 9-year-old boy inexplicably starts seeing dead people, he lands in the care of a child psychologist who’s determined to uncover the truth.

Darkness Falls (Available on Amazon Prime)

A young man, considered crazy by everyone in town, except for his childhood girlfriend and her little brother, is put to the ultimate test when he becomes the only thing that stands between a legendary evil and the little brother.

It Follows (Available on Vudu)

After a seemingly innocent sexual encounter, 19-year-old Jay (Maika Monroe of THE GUEST) suddenly finds herself trapped by a vicious curse - someone or something is following her, and the only way to save herself is to put others in harm's way.

A beautiful tomb raider and her crew hunt for treasure in the catacombs of Paris and find themselves in a hellish underworld.

Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse (Available on Tubi TV)

Three scouts on their last camp outing team up with a cocktail waitress to save their peaceful town from an invasion of the undead.

The Ruins (Available on Amazon Prime & Vudu & Tubi TV)

Based on the terrifying best-seller by Scott Smith, "The Ruins" follows a group of friends who become entangled in a brutal struggle for survival after visiting a remote archaeological dig in the Mexican jungle where they discover something deadly living among the ruins.

Gerald’s Game (Available on Netflix)

When her husband’s sex game goes wrong, Jessie – handcuffed to a bed in a remote lake house – faces warped visions, dark secrets and a dire choice.

Hell House LLC (Available on Amazon Prime & Tubi TV)

On October 8th, 2009 a haunted house attraction opened its doors to the public in upstate New York. The entire crew was found dead, except for one. Five years later a documentary crew found her...and the video footage from inside the house.

Saw (Available on Hulu)

Two strangers awaken in a room with no recollection of how they got there or why, and soon discover they are pawns in a deadly game perpetrated by a notorious serial killer.

Halloween 1989. Sam and Josh are enjoying what's left of their final Devil's Night before graduating from high school. Trouble arises when the two pals and a group of friends take a detour on their way to a rock concert. They find an old abandoned barn and awaken the evil that lurks inside. It's up to Sam and Josh to protect their friends and defeat the creatures that lurk within "The Barn".

Paris, 1979. Someone is brutally murdering the cast of a gay porn in this stylish new vision of queer horror.

A family tense reunion turns terrifying when they get trapped in their home by an unknown force, and sinister commands begin appearing on their TV.

One Cut of the Dead (Available on Shudder)

While shooting a low-budget zombie film in an abandoned warehouse, the crew find themselves caught actual zombies and a mad director who won’t stop rolling.

100 Bloody Acres (Available on Amazon Prime)

100 Bloody Acres is an inspired horror-comedy about the Morgan brothers, Reg and Lindsay, who have bolstered their organic fertilizer business by adding a novel ingredient to their secret blend: human blood and bones. Until now the brothers have relied on the dead victims of car accidents, but unfortunately it's been months since their last find and a customer is impatiently waiting for delivery.

I Trapped the Devil (Available on Hulu)

After trapping what he believes to be the devil, a man caught in a spiral of paranoia, trauma and evil unravels when his estranged family shows up for Christmas.

Desperate to repay his debt to his ex-wife, an ex-con plots a heist at his new employer's country home, unaware that a second criminal has also targeted the property, and rigged it with a series of deadly traps.

Tucker & Dale vs. Evil (Available on Netflix)

Relaxing in your cabin is tough when screaming teens keep mistaking you for a backwoods killer. Awkward.
