Anyone who listens to our Corpse Club podcast knows that What We Do in the Shadows is one of my favorite movies and I was incredibly skeptical that it could make the translation to TV successfully. Thankfully, the Taika Waititi and Jemaine Clement are VERY involved in the series, it is absolutely in the spirit of the movie, and I strongly recommend checking it out if you haven't already. That said, I was still skeptical that we'd see a Season 2, given that there's a limited audience for this type of comedy, but FX thankfully continues to prove me wrong and has renewed What We Do in the Shadows for a second season.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the second season will premiere on FX in 2020, although we have no additional details (including the Season 2 episode count) at this time. The first 10-episode season concludes on May 29th, and if you don't have FX, you can always catch up on Amazon Video or Hulu. Here are more details on the first season and the official trailer:

Previously: LOS ANGELES, May 3, 2017 - FX has ordered the first season of What We Do in the Shadows, a half-hour comedy series based on the feature film of the same name by co-creators Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi, it was announced today by Nick Grad and Eric Schrier, Presidents of Original Programming for FX Networks and FX Productions. The 10-episode first season will air on FX in the Spring of 2019.

Set in New York City, What We Do in the Shadows follows three vampires who have been roommates for hundreds and hundreds of years.

"What We Do in the Shadows only gets better with age thanks to this brilliant adaptation for television by co-creators Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi," said Grad. "Their feature version was a hilarious, fresh take on the mundanity of everyday life that even immortals must face. We are thankful to them, Paul Simms and Scott Rudin, and this amazing cast for taking us deeper into the shadows with this series."

Clement, Waititi and Simms are Executive Producers with Rudin, Eli Bush, and Garrett Basch.

What We Do in the Shadows stars Matt Berry, Kayvan Novak, Natasia Demetriou, and Harvey Guillen.
