If you've been excited for the Goosebumps sequel this October, but have wondered if it will feature one of the central characters from the first film, you can now rest assured, as a new video reveals the return of a familiar face that many fans have been looking forward to seeing in a rematch with Slappy the ventriloquist dummy.

Although it was previously uncertain if Jack Black would be back as real-life horror author R.L. Stine in the Goosebumps sequel, the new video (see below) from Sony Pictures Entertainment reveals that the actor will reprise the role!

Like the 2015 Goosebumps film, the sequel is based on R.L. Stine's Goosebumps book series, which was originally published from 1992–1997 and still continues through multiple storytelling mediums today.

Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween is directed by Ari Sandel (The DUFF) from a screenplay by Rob Lieber (co-writer of Peter Rabbit). The film stars Madison Iseman (Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle), Ben O’Brien (Manchester by the Sea), Caleel Harris (Castle Rock), Jeremy Ray Taylor (2017's IT), Wendi McLendon-Covey, Ken Jeong, and Chris Parnell.

Sony Pictures will unleash Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween in US theaters on October 12th.

"When the Goosebumps monsters bring Halloween to life, three kids get a little help from an old friend…"
