BIG SPOOKY HOUSE: "Candy House Productions announced the lead cast for Big Spooky House, the upcoming creature-filled horror comedy written and directed by Jerry S. Gonzalez. Ben Bishop will star as Seth O. Spooky, alongside Angela Aiello as Luna.
Big Spooky House follows Seth O. Spooky, a man with a crippling fear of everything, who inherits a haunted mansion filled with creepy portraits, cryptic riddles, and a bunch of unhelpful ghosts whom he must brave in order to overcome a generational curse and prove he would do anything for his goth girlfriend Luna. The film blends slapstick, handcrafted practical effects, and delightfully bizarre puppetry in a love letter to Halloween.
Bishop and Gonzalez previously collaborated on the award-winning short Hamster in My Head, which earned Best Short and Best Actor honors on the festival circuit. Ben’s extensive training at Second City, The Annoyance, and The Forge spans stage, improv, and screen. Most recently, Bishop appeared as Grant Best, Kinger’s human counterpart, in The Amazing Digital Circus. He is also known for his recurring role on Chicago P.D. and will next appear in the western feature Dogwood, starring Eric Roberts.
“Seth O. Spooky is a fun character built around the fear of losing a hot goth girlfriend. I’m looking forward to playing a guy completely in over his head, trying his best to survive in this crazy, hilarious world Jerry has built, filled with hijinks and mayhem references that span the breadth of cinema history,” said Bishop.
Angela Aiello is a Bay Area-born, Chicago-based actor of Mexican and Sicilian descent. Her recent film work includes the Midwest Emmy Award-winning Room Tone, Thanks Babe (Best Comedy Award nominee, Chicago Film Frenzy Festival 2026), and 40 Before 40, selected for the Kickstarter and Tubi FilmStream Collective. Her theatre credits include Second City’s de Maat studio productions and the Chicagoland premiere of Sweet 15: The Quinceañera Experience.
