RUN WEREWOLF RUN - An Illustrated Werewolf Novel by Onur Tukel: "Run Werewolf Run is the first novel from filmmaker Onur Tukel (Catfight, Summer of Blood), who adapted it from a feature film script he wrote in 2018. "I've always loved this script," Tukel said. "It's one of my favorite projects. Covid complicated production for so many films in 2020, and I really wanted to bring this project to fruition, so adapting it as a novel made sense. It was much harder than writing a script, of course. I thought it might take a year or two, but it ended up taking five years."

Run Werewolf Run tells the story of a middle-aged father named Clifford Monroe, who is working his way through a midlife crisis. When a charming stranger named Channing enters his life, things will never be the same for poor Clifford, especially when the sun goes down. What follows is an insane, blood-splattered adventure that jeopardizes everything Clifford holds dear, including his wife and kids.

"This is a love letter to werewolf lovers," Tukel says. "Particularly fans of An American Werewolf in London and The Howling. It's definitely a horror comedy but it's got a lot of heart and warmth pulsing through it." Tukel also cites Richard Yates, John Updike and John Cheever as literary influences. "I've always connected with their stories about middle-age ennui and suburban dread. It might be one of the reasons I've avoided marriage. The title, of course, is a little nod to Updike's Rabbit trilogy."

Tukel has written and directed fourteen feature films. His most notable works include the vampire comedy Summer of Blood and Catfight (starring Sandra Oh, Anne Heche and Alicia Silverstone).

The book features over 100 illustrations, all drawn by Tukel, whose depraved artwork was featured in Michael Tully's Sundance film Septien. "Run Werewolf Run is very violent at times. I enjoy drawing these kind of things. It's cathartic. So is writing, of course. You can exorcise a lot of dread and anxiety through pictures and words."

When asked if he'd like to see Run Werewolf Run get adapted into a feature film, he responds with a vigorous nod. "Of course, that's always the dream. At the very least it exists as a novel. That's very gratifying."
