Gags The Clown Coming to Blu-ray and DVD: Chicago, IL (October 17, 2019) – The clown hunt continues this November with Lauren Ashley Carter in horror comedy Gags The Clown by Adam Krause. The feature film, inspired by the viral media frenzy and worldwide phenomenon of ‘clown roaming’ will be released on Blu-ray and DVD by Doppelgänger Releasing (the genre label of arthouse distributor Music Box Films) and horror genre website Bloody Disgusting beginning November 26th.

A small city in Wisconsin is terrorized by a mysterious clown who roams the streets late at night with nothing more than a handful of black balloons. The local news stations scramble to break the story on who he is and what he wants while a group of high schoolers see the clown’s arrival as an excuse to create a little trouble themselves. The police try to maintain order in a city that has gone clown crazy and a conservative podcast host vows to put a stop to the clown known as Gags while broadcasting his “clown hunt” on social media for the world to see.

The horror comedy film delighted and terrified audiences at its 2018 Cinepocalypse world premiere and was released earlier this year on VOD platforms. “Gags the Clown is a scary, creatively shot and often-times humorous look at how the arrival of one mysterious clown can turn a city upside down and inside out…literally,” said filmmaker Adam Krause.

In 2016, director Adam Krause released his short film “Gags” and won Best Director at the Madtown Horror Film Festival and the Above and Beyond Award at the Green Bay Film Festival.

Doppelgänger Releasing and Bloody Disgusting will present the Blu-ray and DVD debut of Gags The Clown beginning November 26, 2019 (pre-book October 22) featuring a slew of fun bonus features including the original short film, gag(s) reel, featurette, and more for the suggested retail price of $24.95 and $19.95.

COME JOIN US BY THE FIRE is an audio-only horror anthology of 35 short stories available to download as free individual audiobooks or to call up with a voice command on your Android phone or Google Assistant-enabled smart speakers, like Google Home, via the Google Play Books app. To try it out, just say “Hey Google, read me ‘This Guy’ by Chuck Wendig”–one of the many titles available.

The project is a way to preview the breadth of talent writing in the horror genre today, with contributions from a wide range of bestselling genre luminaries including China Miéville, Chuck Wendig, Richard Kadrey, and Victor LaValle, Shirley Jackson Award winners Paul Tremblay (The Cabin at the End of the World), Priya Sharma (All the Fabulous Beasts), and Sam J. Miller (Blackfish City) Nebula Award winners Brooke Bolander, Alyssa Wong, Kij Johnson and many, many more.

Theresa DeLucci, editor of COME JOIN US BY THE FIRE and Senior Associate Director of Marketing at Nightfire says, “We wanted this long list of stories to showcase the scope of modern horror, from the cosmic and Lovecraftian, the beloved undead tropes of zombies, ghosts, and slashers, to the more uncanny and internal terrors of isolation, lost love, aging, and one of the briefest, most distressing alien abduction stories you’ll ever hear (‘No Matter Which Way We Turned’ by 2017 Guggenheim Fellowship recipient Brian Evenson.)”

The authors also reflect the diversity of horror as a field, with selections from horror grandmasters such as Joe R. Lansdale and exciting new voices including recent Bram Stoker Award winner Gwendolyn Kiste (The Rust Maidens) Cassandra Khaw, and Michael Wehunt and literary crossover stars such as Carmen Maria Machado, National Book Award finalist and winner of the Lambda Literary Award for Lesbian Fiction.

Google, in cooperation with Nightfire, will highlight this unique project through banners across the Google Play Store. Nightfire, Tor, and Tor.com will also showcase this modern horror content through social media.

Watch a New Spiral Clip: "SPIRAL will have its U.S. Premiere at the Brooklyn Horror Film Festival on October 22nd.

Following a celebrated World Premiere at London’s FrightFest this past Summer.

Set in the 90s - Malik and Aaron, a same-sex couple struggle to raise their sixteen-year-old daughter Kayla after moving to a small town filled with mysterious secrets. Within weeks of arriving, a hate crime is committed in their home - sending Malik into a state of heightened paranoia. As he investigates the town he slowly starts to uncover that something much more sinister lies beneath its friendly facade.

The film harnesses the dread of reality in a unique socio-political frame and confronts society’s ever eagerness to sanction off an ‘other’- and turns it into a chilling horror fable with strong gay characters in the lead.

SPIRAL is directed by prolific young filmmaker Kurtis David Harder (INCONTROL) and stars Ari Cohen, Lochlyn Munroe and Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman of American Horror Story and Lifetime’s critically acclaimed series unREAL, and recently announced judge on Drag Race Canada.

The film is written by Colin Minihan (WHAT KEEPS YOU ALIVE, IT STAINS THE SANDS RED) and John Poliquin (GRAVE ENCOUNTERS 2), who both produced on behalf of Digital Interference alongside Harder and Chris Ball.

Harder's filmmaking credits include writer and co-producer on the upcoming teen comedy SUMMERLAND, as well as producer on the evil imaginary-friend horror Z (2019), bloody black comedy HARPOON (2019), survival thriller WHAT KEEPS YOU ALIVE (2018), Michael Ironside fronted KNUCKLEBALL (2018), meta-docu-thriller FAKE BLOOD (2017) and the parenthood-inspired horror STILL/BORN (2017), in addition to director of his sophomore and debut features, INCONTROL (2017) and CODY FITZ (2011).

SPIRAL is currently on the festival circuit and garnering praise from critics internationally.

  • Tamika Jones
About the Author - Tamika Jones

Tamika hails from North Beach, Maryland, a tiny town inches from the Chesapeake Bay.She knew she wanted to be an actor after reciting a soliloquy by Sojourner Truth in front of her entire fifth grade class. Since then, she's appeared in over 20 film and television projects. In addition to acting, Tamika is the Indie Spotlight manager for Daily Dead, where she brings readers news on independent horror projects every weekend.

The first horror film Tamika watched was Child's Play. Being eight years old at the time, she remembers being so scared when Chucky came to life that she projectile vomited. It's tough for her to choose only one movie as her favorite horror film, so she picked two: Nosferatu and The Stepford Wives (1975).
