MAD HEIDI: "The little girl from the alps is back…she‘s all grown up and she‘s MAD as hell. Mad Heidi is an action-adventure-comedy-horror parody of the much-loved children‘s storybook character Heidi. Now all grown up, Heidi is just a girl from the Alps in an alternative Switzerland that has fallen under fascist rule. Little does she know that her yearning for personal freedom will be the spark that ignites a revolution. From fondue torture to death by chocolate, Mad Heidi is a true Swissploitation film. Think Kill Bill meets The Sound of Music. The much-anticipated film will have all that fans of the genre could desire. If you liked Iron Sky, Kill Bill, Mad Max, or Monty Python then you‘ll love Mad Heidi."

"In addition to being the world‘s first Swisspolitation movie, Mad Heidi will be influenced by its fans, with the chance for them to participate in the production of the film. Moreover, Mad Heidi is the most successful crowdfunded film project in Switzerland to date, with more than 2500 fans from 40 countries supporting the project by buying merchandise and Mad Heidi Bonds worth CHF 250,000."

TROUBLE is one of 30 diverse, genre-bending short films ranging from horror comedy to psychological thrillers and everything in between. Created by up-and-coming filmmakers, these films will screen across digital and broadcast platforms  Freeform,  FX, and Hulu’s Huluween platform hub and YouTube channel.

David Worthen Brooks, EVP of 20th Digital Studio, says, “20th Digital Studio and the Bite Size series provide a platform for emerging storytellers and give them the resources needed to realize their vision. Each short episode can also act as a low-risk proof-of-concept for a feature version of the short,  providing the filmmaker concrete steps toward their larger ambition. This energy and excitement in short form horror provide a global arena for a community of diverse filmmakers.”

Naledi wrote and directed TROUBLE this fall, and it was produced by her frequent collaborators Priscilla Galvez and Jeff Pavlopoulos of Silent Tower Inc. The short film follows the story of Dante, a pianist, who is unwittingly drawn into playing at a plantation wedding. Once he is at the venue, he is confronted with supernatural forces that illuminate the plantation’s past

“2020 has been a year of anxiety as well as a year of reckoning, and some of those sentiments are  reflected in the subject matter of this short.  I never expected to be able to make a film this year, and so I feel incredibly lucky to have the support of this platform to share it.”
Bite Size Halloween 2020 features 30 exciting new filmmakers, amplifying their voice in the film community. This year’s cohort includes a well-rounded group of filmmakers representing different countries, identities, and backgrounds.
