In today’s Horror Highlights, we have five new character posters for a film currently showing at Cannes, Painkillers. Also: a look at a behind-the-scenes video for Venom #1, and The Night of the Virgin trailer and release details.

Painkillers Character Posters Revealed: Press Release: Press Release: "May 14th, 2018 – Title Media, Lone Suspect and Kew Media have released the first round of artwork for Painkillers, a dramatic horror thriller from director Roxy Shih. Kew is currently selling the film at Cannes.

The set of character poster features stars Adam Huss (Power), Madeline Zima (Californication, Twin Peaks), Grant Bowler (Defiance, True Blood), Debra Wilson (MadTV, Bodied), and Mischa Barton (The O.C., The Sixth Sense).

This marks the second feature from director Roxy Shih (The Tribe). Giles Daoust wrote the script, which received several awards and nominations in festivals and screenwriting competitions.

Luke Barnett and Vincent Masciale produced the film under their Lone Suspect banner alongside Giles Daoust for Title Media. Mike Macari (The Ring franchise), Alain Berliner (Golden Globe Winner for My Life in Pink) and Catherine Dumonceaux (Title Media) executive produce.

LOGLINE: After a terrible car crash in which his son dies, brilliant surgeon John Clarke (Huss), tormented by guilt, becomes prey to an unbearable physical pain. While his marriage starts disintegrating, John soon finds out that the only thing that can ease his pain is the taste of human blood. When he encounters Herb Morris (Bowler), a man who claims he can help him get his life back, John embarks upon a nightmarish journey through which he will either have to come to terms with his pain... or become a monster.

Title Media is a film production company founded in 2003 by Giles Daoust and Alain Berliner, active in Brussels, Paris and Los Angeles. Best known for their work with “Funny or Die”, Lone Suspect also partnered with Title Media on their last film, the Abigail Breslin horror-comedy Fear, Inc. (Tribeca 2016). In 2015, Barnett executive produced Loitering with Intent (Sam Rockwell and Marisa Tomei). Lone Suspect recently wrapped the pilot for Captain Karl's Institute for the Abnormally Bizarre, a workplace horror-comedy starring Daniel Stern (Home Alone), YouTube star Lisa Schwartz, Kate Flannery (The Office), and Danny Woodburn (Seinfeld).

Title Media and Lone Suspect are partnering for a third time on Anderson Falls, a crime thriller shooting this summer with French helmer Julien Seri (Night Fare).

Roxy Shih is an internationally acclaimed Taiwanese-American director. Her feature length debut, The Tribe, won multiple awards on the festival circuit, including Best Director at Other Worlds Austin. She recently completed directing ten episodes of Dark / Web (Julie Benz, Hannah Marks), an upcoming sci-fi anthology that explores the problems with living in a totally connected world.
