New Horror-Anthology Audio Drama: Tales from the Dead of Night 2 available now as a free download from Earbud Theater: "Earbud Theater presents Tales from the Dead of Night 2, the second volume of their very popular 2018 horror-anthology audio drama, once again written and directed by Jared Rivet (Day of the Dead, Are You Afraid of the Dark?, Jackals). Presented in the tradition of great horror-anthologies like Tales from the Crypt, Creepshow, and Are You Afraid of the Dark?, Tales from the Dead of Night 2 offers up three, fully-dramatized and immersive scary stories, specifically crafted to push the boundaries of the audio drama format. It is available for free download now at EarbudTheater.com and Apple Podcasts.
The feature-length episode, presented by the playfully sinister Nocturna (Fayna Sanchez, reprising her role as Tales from the Dead of Night's EC-style "horror host"), begins with "Night Moves," the simple story of what happens when a friend asks you to help them move out of their apartment, but leaves out the part about their apartment being haunted.
Tales' second story, "The Bellows," finds four friends on a desert camping trip thrust into a terrifying fight for survival against a creature of pure sound, a malevolent being that relentlessly hunts you down and kills you if you scream.
And in "The Method Vampire," the bad boy star of a hit vampire TV show perpetuates the tabloid-fueled rumors that he might be an actual vampire, unwittingly making himself the target of a very dangerous individual.
Each story features a full cast of incredibly talented, L.A.-based actors, including Ben Begley (For All Mankind), Clarke Wolfe (Psycho Storm Chaser), Rico Anderson (The Orville), Fayna Sanchez (Creepshow), Tracy Clifton (Hell Froze Over), Megan Duffy (Maniac), and Larry Zerner (Friday the 13th Part 3 in 3D), as well as dynamic, feature-film quality original scores by composers Brandon Moore (Aliens Stole My Body) and Folsom Keller (Satanic Panic).
The immersive post production sound design is by audio-wizard Craig Good (Science Friction), once again lending his immeasurable talents to Earbud Theater. The dynamic promotional art for the episode, evoking the style of a 1950's EC comic book cover with a modern twist, was created by renowned Hollywood storyboard and concept artist, Simeon Wilkins (Trick R' Treat).
Tales from the Dead of Night 2 is Jared Rivet's eighth writing-directing effort for Earbud Theater. And while the genre screenwriter has tackled film and television in his career, he considers the audio drama his happy place. "When I was a kid, I was not only obsessed with Creepshow, Tales from the Darkside, Tales from the Crypt, and all of the other horror-anthologies we had on TV at the time, but I was also fascinated by old radio shows from the Golden Age of Radio, specifically the scary ones, like Lights Out, Inner Sanctum and Suspense. I have been in love with the "Theater of the Mind" as a story-telling playground for as long as I can remember, and I have been blessed to work with the folks at Earbud Theater for the last seven years. It also lets me write roles for myself and scratch my acting itch, something the screenwriter of a movie or TV show rarely gets to do for themselves."
