Although it may be difficult to believe, horror fans recently celebrated the 30th anniversary of Sam Raimi's return to one of the creepiest cabins in cinema in Evil Dead II. To celebrate the seminal sequel, Sideshow Collectibles recently released an Ash Williams sixth scale figure that they sent our way, and fans can rest assured that this depiction of the iconic character is incredibly detailed, comes with awesome accessories, and is, above all else, groovy.

Designed by Joe Allard based on Bruce Campbell’s appearance as Ash in Evil Dead II, this sixth scale figure is featured in epic fashion on the outside of the box, which could be proudly displayed by collectors on its own. Opening the box is well worth it, though, as Sideshow’s Ash figure is a sight to behold—and a hell of a lot of fun to place in different poses.

This version of Ash has already been through several rounds with the Deadites—his tattered denim shirt, torn brown trousers, and blood-smeared skin evidence of his fight against evil. Ash has also already performed the film’s infamous self-surgery, his amputated right hand replaced with a chainsaw that’s perfect for slicing and dicing those dangerous Deadites (the Sideshow exclusive edition of this figure also comes with Ash’s dismembered possessed hand).

The chainsaw itself justifies picking this collectible up, as every detail, from its worn paint to its pull-start handle, is brought lovingly to life by Sideshow’s creative team. But no version of Evil Dead II Ash would be complete without his boomstick, and not only does this figure come with a miniature sawed-off shotgun replica, but its barrels also hinge downward to reveal shells (one of mine can even be taken out and reloaded).

Along with the weapons comes the enemy Ash uses them against: the severed head of the Henrietta Deadite, which can be placed under Ash in a defeated pose, the figure's flexible leg articulation allowing the knee to bend and the evil to be placed where it belongs: beneath Ash’s boot. Also included to hold in Ash’s hand is the Necronomicon itself, its mouth wide open as if to warn readers to not open its flesh-bound cover.

As amazing as these accessories are—including four interchangeable hands and a stand—they would all be for naught if this figure didn’t convincingly depict Campbell’s iconic character. But collectors need not fear, for this edition of Ash is spot-on to the character’s appearance in Evil Dead II, right down to the cuts on the face and the arched eyebrow that’s all kinds of groovy.

Due to high demand, Sideshow’s Evil Dead II sixth scale figure, priced at $239.99 apiece, is currently available on a wait-list-only basis, but if you’re able to get one for your collection, it’s well worth the wait for both diehard Deadite lovers and casual fans alike.
