We are back with the latest edition of our Indie Spotlight. Today's feature includes a zombie infested 5k run, good news for The Road, a secret village, a new poster for American Mary and much more:

Ultimate Zombie Warrior: The official website for the Ultimate Zombie Warrior 5k is now open:

"Ultimate Zombie Warrior is an obstacle ridden, zombie infested 5K run. While you may have heard of many Zombie 5k runs recently, we offer a level of competition that is unmatched.

The Ultimate Zombie Warrior course is much more than a leisurely 5k run with easy obstacles and lethargic zombies. We have at least 15 obstacles that will test your endurance, strength, and stamina. These obstacles are inspired by military training manuals.

The course will have numerous aggressive Zombies throughout that are out to infect the runners. Ultimate Zombie Warrior also proudly features “Chaser Zombies” that are unleashed after each wave begins and will chase runners through the end of the course, also attempting to infect them. This takes the Ultimate Zombie Warrior experience to the next level."

The Road Theatrical Run: The limited theater engagement for The Road has been so successful that it is staying in theaters for at least another week:

"Yam Laranas’ ground-breaking horror film will remain in theaters thanks to a successful opening in fifty theaters across the U.S. During the weekend and throughout the week beginning May 21st, THE ROAD will continue showing in seven North American markets, including Los Angeles. The first-ever Filipino film to receive a mainstream U.S. release, THE ROAD has received critical acclaim from prominent outlets including The New York Times, USA Today, and Village Voice."

Here are the locations that will continue to screen the film: Los Angeles, CA , Buena Park, CA, Emeryville, CA, San Jose, CA, Aiea, HI, Kapolei, HI, Las Vegas, NV, Elizabeth, NJ, Tempe, AZ, Dallas, TX.

New Poster for American Mary: Jen and Sylvia Soska have been working on their follow up to Dead Hooker in a Trunk and screened American Mary at the Cannes Film Festival this week to a standing ovation and plenty of praise from horror fans who got a chance to see it.

They have released a new poster for the film and we should have more information on US release plans in the near future.

Synopsis via KBPS: "The movie follows a medical student Mary Mason as she becomes increasingly broke and disenchanted with the medical profession and surgeons she once admired, and the allure of easy money and notoriety takes her into the messy world of underground surgeries that leave more marks on Mary than her so called freakish clientele."

Shakespeare v Lovecraft: If you were a fan of Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter or Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, you may be interested in this new novella from D.R. O'Brien:

"In the same putrid vein as Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, Shakespeare v. Lovecraft slithers hideously onto the literary mash-up scene, whispering of cosmic horrors and eldritch tales whilst espousing sweet soliloquys and profoundly contemplating mankind’s place in the universe.

Prospero, driven dangerously insane by prolonged exposure to the dread Necronomicon, makes a terrible pact with the titanic alien beast known only as Cthulhu. Now only his enchantress daughter Miranda and a handful of history’s greatest heroes are all that stand between humanity and blasphemous eternal subjugation.

It’s a bloodbath of Shakespearean proportions as Cthulhu and his eldritch companions come at our protagonists from all manner of strange geometric angles in a hideous and savage battle for supremacy."

Be a Part of Deathwoods: We rarely cover crowd funded projects, but this one is a bit different as they have completed most of the film and are offering an interesting way for horror fans to get involved in the actual making of the movie:

Including the opportunity to create the death scene's for both Ari Lehman and John Dugan! Not only do you get the chance to create several of our death scenes but you can also be killed in the film or help produce the ultimate boob scene! A grind house horror for the fans by the fans! Just follow the link, pick your poison and help us spill our guts.

Deathwoods also stars horror actor Jason Crowe (Dead Moon Rising, Red River), Professional wrestler and former manager of Mike "The Miz" Mizanin Roni Jonah (The Zombie Movie, Truth or Dare IV), Return of The Swamp Thing's Daniel Emery Taylor and sexy scream queen Julie Anne Prescott (Slices, Truth or Dare IV)."
