We're back with another edition of the Indie Spotlight, highlighting recent independent horror news sent our way. Today's feature includes details on a zombie energy drink, trailers for Ditch Day Massacre and The Dead Inside, and much more:

Zombie Terrors #1 Animated Comic: "Asylum Press and Visionborne have joined forces to produce a slate of animated comics based on popular Asylum Press titles for the Apple iPad and other mobile devices. After the successful launch of fan-favorite Fearless Dawn #1, Zombie Terrors is the next in the lineup to be released exclusively through the Visionborne app that uses Airmid technology, a process that converts static 2D art into a vibrant 3D animated format that can be read and "experienced" using a reader app on iOS and Android.

Zombie Terrors #1 is available the iTunes store now. It features a gory collection of zombie tales created by an international cast of artistic talent. Frank Forte delivers Beheaded, a tale of a crazed hillbilly who takes trophies off of his zombie victims. In Feast, a gourmet chef is taken hostage by a greedy mob boss. In Hate, a recently turned zombie that still has some semblance of his humanity must confront what he's become. And finally, to add a little more spice to this gruesome brew, we're throwing in some awesome pin-ups by horror master David Hartman."

Details on Stalled: "It's Christmas Eve and a soon to be shit-canned maintenance gopher (Dan Palmer) is changing light bulbs and cleaning toilets instead of drinking egg-nog and making out with drunk receptionists at the annual office party. Unfortunately for this forlorn floor-sweeper he chooses to use the LADIES' RESTROOM the very second a ZOMBIE OUTBREAK occurs! Will he bowl us over and flush away the undead or (like in his pre-apocalypse life) simply remain ...'Stalled'?

Uncork’d Entertainment and Viva Films will be unleashing Stalled in U.S. theaters this fall."

Stalled stars Dan Palmer, Tamaryn Payne ('Hollyoaks'), Mark Holden ('Final Destination') and Antonia Bernath.

First Clip Released for The Being Experience: "The Being Experience by Jennifer Elster begins with “... IN THE WOODS,” a multi-part film series that is a mystery to everyone, even its subjects. A daring walk into the unknown, the film series delves deep inside each subject and ends up in unchartered terrain.

See Terrence Howard in the first clip from the series and the first installment, PART ANIMAL, also featuring Dave Matthews now.

Featuring Terrence Howard, Dave Matthews, Questlove, Famke Janssen, and many many more, “… IN THE WOODS” errs on the side of risk, penetrating what is often unspoken, and existing outside of the bounds of how we are expected to behave. The series operates on multiple levels of consciousness. It is an ongoing journey to be released on a variety of platforms. Get ready for an unusual ride."

They quickly realize some things are better left alone."

Ditch Day Massacre Full Length Trailer: "Jenny Bilson, a high school senior, is the perfect student, and a wonderful daughter to a veteran police detective. But a figure from her past has come knocking. And, throwing a high school 'ditch party,' will end up being one HELL of a mistake!

Water Tree Media has released the full length trailer for the much anticipated teen slasher film Ditch Day Massacre! This film stars horror icon Bill Oberst Jr. and Lynn Lowry (Cat People, The Crazies). First time director Joe Hendrick’s collaborative efforts with horror screenwriter/author Daniel P. Coughlin (Lake Dead, Farmhouse) and sibling actor/writer Ryan Coughlin (Back Slash, “Jericho”) promise to keep us begging for more twisted story, practical gore and scantily clad scenery.

And, rumor has it there is a production journal that will be released in book form near the film’s release date, which promises to bare all, and it will tell the tale of a group of underdog filmmakers putting everything they got, literally to make this fun and explosive horror film."

First Details on Jagerbar: "Screenwriter Brett Alan Bentman and Director Alexander Thomas Scott spin Goldilocks on its head and re-imagine this beloved children's classic as an edge of your seat, nail biting thriller. This time, the bears are kidnappers, Goldilocks fights back, and escape gets grizzly. Jagerbar stars Lacey Hannan, Jonathan Erickson Eisley, Sam Marra, Jordan Potter and Angeline-Rose Troy.

The Dead Inside Trailer: "A crap night out just got a fair bit worse: it's the end of the world! Something terrible has happened, the undead are out in force, roaming the streets and devouring all who get in their way. First Details on Horror Novel, Condosaur: "Leo Publishing, LLC, announces the release of Condosaur, a new horror novel by author Chris Berman. Berman, a science fiction author and creator of The Hive, Star Pirates, Red Moon, and Ace of Aces, has broken new ground with Condosaur. However, Berman does not abandon his scientific accuracy in a tale that lifts deadly predators from the past, and places them into a modern environment. The plot is very plausible and, as in Berman’s prior works of fiction, he is again ahead of the curve, having predicted a year prior to their actual discovery the existence of biologically active bodies of water that have remained buried beneath rock and ice for millions of years. Science aside, the true horror of Condosaur is what happens once these creatures finally emerge and find human beings to be easy and satisfying prey."

Walking With the Dead Details: "A bloody and comedic riff of modern-era zombie pop culture, Walking With The Dead (from the team behind found-footage spoof Supernatural Activity) stabs at any and every genre convention--WHY are zombies' skulls so conveniently soft?!--and parodies the best and worst zombie movies and TV shows.

A month into the zombie apocalypse, two survivors who inexplicably prefer to go by the names of their favorite cities--Green Bay and Chicago--make a much needed run to an overrun hospital, only to run into a disoriented, gowned and pants-less Sheriff fresh off a nice, relaxing, six-week coma. After a quick, to the point recap of how the world is ending, Sheriff Lincoln passes on the opportunity to join Green Bay and Chicago at the mall with their other survivors, choosing instead to search for his family.

They part ways, unaware of the lurking presence of a voiceover-prone zombie named Romeo, who just wants to find his Jul--a friend. He's slowly regaining his humanity and needs to prove it to the living so they don't, well, blow his head off. After overhearing their conversation and spying on one sexy survivor awaiting Green Bay and Chicago in their truck, Romeo decides the mall would be a nice place to relocate."

Written by Tim Ogletree, Walking With the Dead stars Tim Ogletree, Andrew Pozza, Joey Oglesby, Donny Boaz, and Troy Ogletree.

[Now] in pre-production, the British alien sci-fi movie is set for international release in 2014. A cross between The Man Who Fell to Earth and Aliens, the sci-fi will see Mel transform from human to sexy alien before destroying humanity."

The film will be directed by Brian Kazmarck, produced by Russell Southam and Brian Smith. The feature is tentatively scheduled to begin shooting in Spring 2014. Scouting for locations both in the US and Asia with a fantastic crew are coming together. Casting will commence soon.

A father attempts to reconnect with his six-year-old daughter in the wake of his wife's sudden and tragic death. Traumatized, the young girl retreats from her family only to find solace in a new and peculiar little friend who enters her life. A number of gruesome and untimely accidents leave neighbors and family members dead with only one thing in common: the daughter is the last to see them alive. With evidence mounting and his daughter the prime suspect, her father must race to uncover the real culprit and save them both."

Production Details for Super Zero: "Josh Hershberg is just like any other 19 year old kid. He loves playing video games, reading comic books and watching Horror and Sci-fi movies. However, he also suffers from a rare form of terminal brain cancer and is struggling to find meaning to his life. Josh has never accomplished much, and being overweight and shy doesn't help his situation. Just like most of us, he has never felt like he is special. That is until a water sample found under the surface of Mars is brought to Earth. Unfortunately the liquid also contains a horrible microbe that sets off the Zombie Apocalypse. As civilization is quickly ravaged, Josh discovers something quite unusual. Because of his rare cancer, the zombies somehow think he is already dead and don't even see him. Now, Josh harnesses this "power" and uses his engineering expertise to craft awesome weapons to become a Zombie Assassin and the savior of humanity.

Super Zero was written and directed by Mitch Cohen. Shane Speigel and Amy Gunzenhauser are producers, with Dilated Pixels on VFX. We are still in the casting phase so talent has not yet been locked in."
