Filming is now underway on the next chapter in the Halloween movie franchise, and with the film featuring the final showdown between Laurie Strode and Michael Myers, Jamie Lee Curtis shared a photo from the set that proves Laurie won't be afraid to unleash some firepower on The Shape when he comes for her family again.

Shared on Jamie Lee Curtis' Twitter page, the photo (see below) was taken on the set of the Halloween movie, which is being filmed in South Carolina. The photo shows a shooting gallery target with a hole made by a shot presumably fired from a .357 Magnum, and it comes with the caption, "First shot. 357. Feels good to have Laurie back on set for @halloweenmovie #Halloweenmovie."

It was recently reported by The Tracking Board that Will Patton will play a police officer in the new Halloween movie, with the official Halloween franchise website revealing that Ginny Gardner, Miles Robbins, Dylan Arnold, and Drew Scheid have joined the cast of the new Halloween movie to play the friends of Allyson (Andi Matichak).

Allyson is presumably the daughter of Karen Strode (Judy Greer) and granddaughter of Laurie Strode, played by Jamie Lee Curtis, who is returning to the franchise for one final showdown with Michael Myers.

Bloody Disgusting recently reported that filmmaker and actor Nick Castle, who played the masked version of Michael Myers in John Carpenter's Halloween, will reprise his role as Michael Myers in the new Halloween movie, with James Jude Courtney also cast in the iconic role.

Slated for an October 19th, 2018 release from Universal Pictures, the new Halloween movie is directed by David Gordon Green from a screenplay he wrote with Danny McBride. Master of Horror John Carpenter executive produces and is expected to compose the score for the latest entry in the Halloween franchise. We'll be sure to keep Daily Dead readers updated as more details are revealed.

Previous Press Release: "Universal Pictures will release Trancas International Films, Blumhouse Productions and Miramax’s HALLOWEEN on Friday, October 19, 2018.

Jamie Lee Curtis returns to her iconic role as Laurie Strode, who comes to her final confrontation with Michael Myers, the masked figure who has haunted her since she narrowly escaped his killing spree on Halloween night four decades ago.

Master of horror John Carpenter will executive produce and serve as creative consultant on this film, joining forces with cinema’s current leading producer of horror, Jason Blum (Get Out, Split, The Purge, Paranormal Activity). Inspired by Carpenter’s classic, filmmakers David Gordon Green and Danny McBride crafted a story that carves a new path from the events in the landmark 1978 film, and Green also directs.

HALLOWEEN will be produced by Malek Akkad, whose Trancas International Films has produced the HALLOWEEN series since its inception. Green and McBride will executive produce under their Rough House Pictures banner.

HALLOWEEN will be distributed worldwide by Universal Pictures."
