July 24th is yet another great day to be a genre fan, because we have a ton of killer Blu-ray and DVD releases to look forward to, including Scream Factory’s incredible Collector’s Edition of In the Mouth of Madness (which is truly a must-own for those John Carpenter aficionados out there, which is probably 90 percent of us).
Scream Factory has also put together a Blu-ray for Carpenter’s Memoirs of an Invisible Man, and we also have two other great cult classics coming our way this week in HD, courtesy of Lionsgate’s Vestron Video Collector’s Series: Brian Yuzna’s Beyond Re-Animator and Stuart Gordon’s Dagon. And, as if all that wasn’t enough, Code Red is resurrecting Love Me Deadly.

Love Me Deadly (Code Red, Blu-ray)
Lindsay (Mary Wilcox, Lepke) has an unusual fascination with the dead, she often finds herself at funerals for people she doesn't even know. Once the mourners have cleared out, she's drawn to the corpse by an unspeakable sexual curiosity. It appears that this obsession with the recently deceased has been brewing within Lindsay for quite some time and might have been something to do with her late father. She makes an attempt at a normal relationship with Lyle Waggoner (TV's Wonder Woman), but is also lured into a corpse-loving cult by a creepy undertaker. Equal parts sick soap opera and exploitation, Love Me Deadly still has the power to disturb and disgust 46 years later after its original release. Christopher Stone (The Howling), Timothy Scott (The Farmer) and H.B. Halicki (Gone in Sixty Seconds) co-star in this 1972 cult classic.

Just a quick nap and weary stock analyst Nick Halloway is sure he'll emerge as good as new. Instead, he wakes up as good as gone. Vanished. A nuclear accident has made Nick ... invisible! The laughs and visual effects are out of sight when Chevy Chase headlines Memoirs of an Invisible Man. Invisibility makes it easier to spy on agents (particularly chief adversary Sam Neill) who’ve put him in his predicament. And he can romance a lovely documentary producer (Daryl Hannah) in a way she's never "seen" before. John Carpenter (Halloween, The Thing) directs and Industrial Light and Magic create eye-opening effects as Nick embarks on his manic quest. Seeing is believing!
