Happy Friday, everyone! It may be hard to believe, but we have officially made it to the mid-point of the year, which means summertime is practically right around the corner. If you’re looking to escape the rising temperatures outside, here are more than 20 different reasons to stay parked on your couch throughout the month of June, as we have a ton of great horror and sci-fi titles hitting various digital and streaming platforms in the coming weeks.

Everything kicks off in a big way on June 4th, as Jordan Peele’s Us is celebrating its digital debut alongside a slew of indie horror titles, including The Cleaning Lady, The Bastards’ Fig Tree, The Odds, and Recovery. June 7th is yet another busy day, with I Am Mother hitting Netflix and the next installment of Blumhouse’s Into the Dark Series, They Come Knocking, will be available on Hulu that day as well. If you missed Captive State or High Life during their theatrical runs, you can catch up with both films on the 11th, and for those of you who enjoy a fun horror anthology experience, Nightmare Cinema will be available to rent on the 21st.

June’s VOD and Digital releases wrap up with Pet Sematary (2019) hitting digital platforms on the 25th (it’ll be on VOD a few weeks later) and the social influencer horror flick The 16th Episode arrives on the 28th.

The Bastards’ Fig Tree (Dark Star Pictures) – June 4th

Near the end of the Spanish War, a "trigger happy" fascist soldier turns into a hermit and gets caught up in the care of a fig tree after the look in a ten year old child's eyes, son of one of his victims, awakes in him the certainty that the kid will kill him as soon as he reaches sixteen years of age.

The Cleaning Lady (RLJE Films) – June 4th

On the surface, Alice seems like a woman who has it all: a gorgeous apartment, a booming career, a stunning physique, and a handsome boyfriend. The only problem is he’s married to someone else. Looking for a way to simplify her life, Alice hires Shelly to clean her house. As Alice begins to confide in Shelly about her illicit affair, their friendship grows… and so does Shelly’s twisted obsession with her new employer. It soon becomes clear that Shelly has motives that reach further than a normal cleaning lady. Shelly wants to cleanse Alice’s entire life and will stop at nothing until she’s done.

The Haunting of Borley Manor (101 Films) – June 4th

1944, Paranormal Investigator, Harry Price is called in to look at the story of Borley Rectory, said to be the most haunted building in the world before it was mysteriously destroyed by fire just before WWII.

The Odds (4Digital) – June 4th

A young woman enlists in an underground game of pain endurance in the hope of winning the million dollar prize. She soon learns the real opponent is the man who's running the game, as he employs horrific methods to manipulate and defeat her.

The Possession Diaries (Uncork’d Entertainment) – June 4th

Playing with a Ouija board is dangerous, and college student Rebecca Clarkson (Katherine Munroe) is now documenting the proof, as day by day a demon takes possession of her while a webcam audience watch the horrific event.

Recovery (SP Releasing) – June 4th

A violent Afghanistan war hero and struggling addict enters a drug treatment facility, and must confront her demons and question her own sanity as patients are brutally murdered one by one.

Us (Universal Pictures Home Entertainment) – June 4th

Set along the North California coastline, Adelaide Wilson (Lupita Nyong’o) reluctantly returns to her beachside childhood home with her family and finds that she is haunted by unresolved trauma from her past along with a string of eerie coincidences. As darkness falls after a tense day at the beach, the Wilsons discover four figures standing in their driveway. They soon realize this is only the beginning of their troubles as they find that the four figures are terrifying and uncanny opponents: doppelgängers of themselves.

The Child Remains (Uncork’d Entertainment) – June 7th

An expectant couple's intimate weekend turns to terror when they discover their secluded country inn is a haunted maternity home where unwanted infants and mothers were murdered. Inspired by the true story of the infamous 'Butterbox Babies', THE CHILD REMAINS is a twisting supernatural thriller and homage to slow-burn vintage horror like The Shining, Rosemary's Baby and Session 9.

I Am Mother (Netflix) – June 7th Exclusively on Netflix

I AM MOTHER is a sci-fi thriller about a teenage girl (Clara Rugaard), who is the first of a new generation of humans to be raised by Mother (Rose Byrne), a robot designed to repopulate the earth after the extinction of humankind. But the pair’s unique relationship is threatened when an injured stranger (Hilary Swank) arrives with news that calls into question everything Daughter has been told about the outside world and her Mother’s intentions.

Project Ithaca (Saban Films) – June 7th

A group of strangers awaken aboard an alien spacecraft. Divided they will die. Together, they can find a way home.

Terror in the Skies (Small Town Monsters) – June 7th

Director Seth Breedlove explores hundreds of years of terrifying reports of encounters with massive, winged creatures around the Land of Lincoln. From Alton's man-eating Piasa Bird legends to recent Chicago sightings of a creature said to resemble West Virginia's infamous Mothman, Terror in the Skies takes an in-depth look at a centuries-old mystery.  

They Come Knocking (Blumhouse/Hulu) – June 7th Exclusively on Hulu

The story follows Nathan (Clayne Crawford) and his two daughters, Clair (Josephine Langford) and Maggie (Lia McHugh) on a road trip after losing his wife to cancer, when he finds his family in the crosshairs of terrifying supernatural entities. 

Captive State (Universal Pictures Home Entertainment) – June 11th

An extraterrestrial force has occupied Earth, deceiving humanity with the promise of peace and unity, forcing a Chicago neighborhood to confront both sides of the conflict.

High Life (A24) – June 11th

Monte (Robert Pattinson) and his baby daughter, last survivors on a spaceship, hurtle to the oblivion of a black hole.

Threshold (Archstone) – June 11th

A couple experience an intruder during a night of apocalyptic world events and somehow he knows every detail of their life.

Hallowed Ground (Uncork’d Entertainment) – June 11th

A married couple, trying to rebuild their relationship after an affair, travels to a secluded cabin and stumbles into a blood feud between the Native American owners of the property and the neighboring clan, who obsessively guard their land and punish those who trespass on it in terrifying ways.

Clinton Road (Midnight Releasing) – June 14th

In the film, scripted by Derek Ross Mackay, a widowed fire fighter seeks closure after his wife goes missing on an actual haunted road in rural New Jersey but must unlock the roads secret if he wants to get out alive.

Head Count (Samuel Goldwyn Films) – June 14th

Newcomer Evan joins a group of teens on a getaway in Joshua Tree. While exchanging ghost stories around the campfire, Evan reads aloud a mysterious chant from an internet site. From that moment, someone--or something--is among them. As unsettling, inexplicable events become more frequent, Evan realizes this summoned shape-shifting creature is targeting them to fulfill a deadly ritual.

Nightmare Cinema (Good Deed Entertainment) – June 21st

In this twisted horror anthology, five strangers are drawn to an abandoned theater and forced to watch their deepest and darkest fears play out before them. Lurking in the shadows is the Projectionist, who preys upon their souls with his collection of disturbing films. As each reel spins its sinister tale, the characters find frightening parallels to their own lives.

Perfect (Breaker) – June 21st Exclusively on Breaker.io

PERFECT is an hypnotic, visually striking film about an emotionally-troubled young man (Garrett Wareing) who is sent to a mysterious clinic by his mother (Abbie Cornish), with the hopes of perfection.

Pet Sematary (2019) (Paramount Pictures) – June 25th on Digital

Based on the terrifying novel by Stephen King... After the Creed family moves to rural Maine, they stumble upon an ancient burial ground with sinister powers. When tragedy strikes, a perilous chain of events unleashes an unfathomable evil.

The 16th Episode (Gravitas Ventures) – June 28th

Three YouTubers, each with their own inner demons, visit the mythical town of Casablanca. With their viewership down, they get invited to attend a satanic ritual and soon realize that maybe all their audience wants is to see them die.
