Universal is getting back into the Jurassic Park business in a big way. The original film is being re-released in 3D on April 5th, and they've already set a release date of June 13th, 2014 for Jurassic Park 4. There was a bit of worry about the project's status after a director was not announced earlier this year, but we now know who will be helming the upcoming dinosaur movie.
Safety Not Guaranteed's Colin Trevorrow has been teasing a new project, and at one point it was thought that he was in the running for Star Wars Episode VII. It turns out that he's the Jurassic Park 4 director, with Steven Spielberg on-board as an executive producer. It is also being reported that Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley will be producing.
It was previously announced that Rise of the Planet of the Apes writers Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver were hired to work on the new script. There are no other details on the project at this time, aside from the fact that it will be released in 3D. If Universal wants to keep to their original release date, casting and production will move forward very quickly. We'll report back as soon as more information becomes available.
