Following a very successful showing at the Sundance Film Festival, Magnolia Pictures has acquired V/H/S. According to reports, there was a late-night bidding war, which resulted in Magnolia paying $1 million for North American distribution rights.

Magnolia's plans for the film includes a video-on-demand and significant theatrical release after the VOD premiere. This is similar to their current rollout of Ti West's The Innkeepers. No release dates have been announced, but we'll report back when anything is official.

V/H/S is a "found footage" anthology film that was directed by Adam Wingard, Ti West, David Bruckner, Glenn McQuaid, Radio Silence, and Joe Swanberg. The film stars Joe Swanberg, Calvin Reeder, Adam Wingard, Sophia Takal, Kate Lyn Sheil, Matt Bettinelli-Olpin, Chad Villella, and Tyler Gillett.

Synopsis: "When a group of misfits is hired by an unknown third party to burglarize a desolate house and acquire a rare VHS tape, they discover more found footage than they bargained for."
