Horror fans living in the Los Angeles area might want to clear some calendar space, because Alamo Drafthouse is scaring up plenty of horror-themed screenings in March, including partnering with the Overlook Film Festival for very special Terror Tuesday screenings.
Including their Bong Joon Ho retrospective screenings and "Remakes and Hot Takes" series, Alamo Drafthouse is teaming up with Overlook Film Festival to present an eclectic lineup of horror movies with special guest hosts, including Near Dark (in 35mm) with Karyn Kusama, Carnival of Souls with Alicia Malone, StageFright with Ryan Turek, and more.

Press Release: LOS ANGELES, CA The iconic Alamo Drafthouse in Los Angeles has jam packed its March programming full of incredible events like celebrating the genius that is Bong Joon Ho. The downtown location is hosting an eight-film retrospective of the Oscar winner’s finest films up through the black & white version of his 2020 Best Picture winner PARASITE.
Also in the March line-up is the artful double feature on Sunday, March 1st that is not to be missed! The double feature includes the critically acclaimed SHORT TERM 12 starring Brie Larson & Netflix’s ALL THE BRIGHT PLACES starring Elle Fanning and Justice Smith. Following ALL THE BRIGHT PLACES, join screenwriter Liz Hannah for an engaging Q&A along with director Brett Haley, moderated by Variety’s Jenelle Riley!

● LIZ HANNAH DOUBLE FEATURE -- Take a break from the discourse that surrounds the country and join screenwriter Liz Hannah (ALL THE BRIGHT PLACES) on Sunday, March 1 for a double feature of two beautiful works of film art: SHORT TERM 12 & ALL THE BRIGHT PLACES. Following ALL THE BRIGHT PLACES will be a Q&A with Director Brett Haley and Liz Hannah, moderated by Jenelle Riley, Variety’s Deputy Awards and Features Editor!
● EMMA IMMERSIVE AFTERNOON TEA -- Also on Sunday, March 1st, Alamo Drafthouse extends the experience beyond the screen with a fully immersive experience with food, tea, dance, actors and so much more. After your screening of EMMA, enjoy a fully interactive Afternoon Tea experience! In addition to three custom teas from St. Bastians and delicious food created just for this event by Alamo Drafthouse Austin Market Executive Chef Brad Sorenson.
● SPRING BREAK FOR TEACHERS AT ALAMO DRAFTHOUSE -- All month long Alamo Drafthouse is celebrating the amazing teachers in our lives with a special snack pass! Every day in March, teachers can get a $10 Snack Pass towards their purchase with a box office ticket purchase and a valid teacher ID. This offer is good from March 1 - 31st.
● VORTEX LAB -- Here at the Alamo Drafthouse we love trying new things and programming new experiences for our guests. New programming initiatives have included a stand up comedy night, lip sync battles, local musicians, and more to come.
● BONG JOON HO RESTROSPECTIVE -- Back by popular demand, and following his historic win at this year’s Academy Awards, Alamo Drafthouse is revisiting all of Bong Joon Ho’s masterpieces including, BARKING DOGS NEVER BITE, MEMORIES OF MURDER and more. The retrospective begins March 22 through April.
● OVERLOOK FILM FESTIVAL (March 3 - 31) -- Calling all horror & genre film lovers. Come to the Alamo Drafthouse this March where the cinema house is taken over by the Overlook Film Festival every Terror Tuesday! With titles such as NEAR DARK in 35mm and SOCIETY, hosted by special speakers -- Karyn Kusama, Bryan Yuzna, Ryan Turek and TCM host Alicia Malone. Unspooled Live! With Paul Scheer and Amy Nicholson will also be themed to the Overlook Film Festival - the recording will take place Monday, March 23rd. Attend the screenings and become eligible to win all kinds of Overlook related prizes!
● DUNGEONS & DRAGONS 101 -- On Saturday, March 7th, in honor of Disney/Pixar’s anticipated animated film ONWARD opening in theaters, the Alamo Drafthouse is partnering with Dungeon in a Box and hosting a Dungeons & Dragons 101 workshop followed by a series of mini campaigns. The family friendly event is designed for folks who are brand new to role playing games as well as seasoned D&D players. One shot D&D games will take place in the Video Vortex with chances to win great prizes - check out the website for more details!
● REMAKES & HOT TAKES (March 8 - 21) -- Who wore it better -- the tried and true original or the hip, modern remake? Starting the month of March, Alamo Drafthouse is screening a slew of remakes that has the house divided between which film version is better.
● *NEW* SCREENING SERIES -- Marc Bernardin’s “The Minority Report” screening series kicks off this month with a SERENITY 15th Anniversary screening on March 9th. The series is hosted and curated by Marc Bernardin and will feature guest speakers who talk through the best of genre cinema's diverse stories, game-changing characters, or underrepresented storytellers.
● TAMMY AND THE T-REX RETURNS -- Join actor/comedian Paul Scheer on March 18th for a screening of TAMMY AND THE T-REX to brush up ahead of the special episode of HOW DID THIS GET MADE to enjoy all of the impressive splatter of gore for yourself.
● THE OFFICE LUNCH BREAK -- Get out of the office and over the Wednesday hump by joining Alamo Drafthouse DTLA during your lunch break. Every Wednesday beginning March 4th, from 12pm - 2pm enjoy episodes of THE OFFICE with a side of the Drafthouse’s comprehensive bar menu.
