Deadline is reporting that Neill Blomkamp, the director of District 9 is returning with District 9 star Sharlto Copley for a new sci-fi named Elysium:

"Neil is taking meetings all over town. There is a lot of interest from every studio," an insider tells me. I hear Blomkamp is including a graphic novel in his presentation. Elysium is Blomkamp's long-awaited story set in the far future on another planet and, like District 9, is filled with many sociopolitical ideas wrapped up inside a Hollywood action film."

We hear many stories of directors who hit it big and line up multiple projects and/or sequels right away. I'm glad to see Neill Blomkamp not rush into things and really put a lot of effort into his second film. He could have easily taken the payday and put out a District 9 sequel and the fact that he didn't gives me hope for his career as a director and Elysium.
