The modern-day boogeyman of the internet will have to wait a bit longer to haunt theaters in 2018, as Screen Gems has changed the release date for their Slender Man movie.

According to Box Office Mojo, Slender Man is now scheduled to come out in theaters on August 24th, moving it about three months from its previous May 18th release date.

Bloody Disgusting reports that Screen Gems has also taken the Shay Mitchell-starring horror film Cadaver off its release schedule. The movie was also slated to come out this year, but we'll have to wait and see where the new horror film—which follows a cop fighting an evil force in a hospital morgue—will land next on the calendar.

Directed by Sylvain White from a screenplay by David Birke (based on the character created by Victor Surge), Slender Man stars Joey King, Julia Goldani-Telles, Jaz Sinclair, Annalise Basso, and Javier Botet as Slenderman. One of the most talented performance artists working today, Botet also recently played the Neibolt House hobo in the new IT movie as well as "KeyFace" in Insidious: The Last Key.

Will you be adding Slender Man to your watch list this summer? Let us know and check out the synopsis, trailer, and poster below.

Synopsis: "In a small town in Massachusetts, four high school girls perform a ritual in an attempt to debunk the lore of SLENDER MAN. When one of the girls goes mysteriously missing, they begin to suspect that she is, in fact, HIS latest victim."
