It was announced last month that William Sadler had joined the ever-growing cast of Machete Kills, but we had no details on what role he had been cast in. We now have a new poster, revealing that he's playing a character named Sheriff Doakes in the film.

Machete Kills started filming last month and stars Danny Trejo, Michelle Rodriguez, Mel Gibson, Sofia Vergara, Demian Bichir, Amber Heard, Zoe Saldana, Edward James Olmos (rumored), Jessica Alba, Charlie Sheen, Alexa Vega, Lady Gaga, Electra Avellan, and Elise Avellan.

An official synopsis for Machete Kills was officially released, but Robert Rodriguez recently revealed that the story has changed quite a bit: “That synopsis we put out is misdirection — it’s all fake. Machete is recruited by the President, that’s true, but there’s no cartel leader and the weapon in space is just one of our early story ideas. That said, there is still a space element, for sure. We’ve given the character a much bigger playground. It’s going to be like a James Bond movie, with a Bond-style villain.”

Here is the original synopsis: “The new film finds Machete recruited by the U.S. Government for a mission which would be impossible for any mortal man. Machete must battle his way through Mexico to take down a madman cartel leader and an eccentric billionaire arms dealer who has hatched a plan to spread war across the planet with a weapon in space. Machete takes on an army in an effort to dismantle a plan for global anarchy.”

We have the new poster, thanks to William Sadler who posted it to Twitter. We've also included the previously released Lady Gaga poster below:
