In addition to Halloween Kills being postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Universal has also pushed back the release dates for Candyman and The Forever Purge.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Nia DaCosta's Candyman will now be released on October 16th, 2020 (after previously being moved to September 25th).

Produced by Jordan Peele, the new Candyman (the latest in a series of films based on Clive Barker's short story "The Forbidden") stars Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Teyonah Parris, Nathan Stewart-Jarrett, Colman Domingo, and Tony Todd.

THR also reveals that Everardo Gout's The Forever Purge has been rescheduled for a July 9th, 2021 release (about a year after its previous July 10th, 2020 release date).

James DeMonaco, writer of the first four Purge films and director of the first three movies, wrote the screenplay for the fifth film in The Purge franchise.

Jason Blum of Blumhouse Productions will produce the new Purge film, along with Man in a Tree's DeMonaco and Sebastien Lemercier, as well as Platinum Dunes' Michael Bay, Brad Fuller, and Andrew Form.
