Less than one month after its January 26th, 2018 release date was announced, Sony Pictures has moved its Goosebumps sequel to a September 2018 slot on the calendar.

Deadline reports (and Box Office Mojo confirms) that Goosebumps 2 is now set to come out in theaters on September 21st, 2018. The new release date is within reaching distance of the Halloween season and is likely a more fitting slot for the adaptation of R.L. Stine's popular book series (the first Goosebumps movie came out on October 16th of 2015).

While plot details are unknown at this time, Rob Letterman and Darren Lemke, the director and writer of the first film, respectively, are returning for the follow-up film, along with producers Deborah Forte and Neal H. Moritz.

Jack Black has not officially been announced to reprise his role as horror author R.L. Stine, but he is expected to once again star in the sequel. There’s no word yet if Sony is hoping to also bring back Dylan Minnette, Odeya Rush, and Ryan Lee, the original movie’s young heroes who teamed up with Stine to put his creepy creations back in the books they escaped from.

We’ll be sure to keep Daily Dead readers updated as more details are revealed. In the meantime, what would you like to see in a Goosebumps sequel? Here's what Stine recently wrote about the sequel in a Twitter Q&A.
