About two years ago, an adaptation of Odd Thomas started filming and we haven't heard much since, aside from some legal battles between parties involved in financing the film. A sales trailer has now been released and it gives us a pretty good idea of what to expect from the movie.
"The story centers on a short-order cook named Odd Thomas (Anton Yelchin) who can commune with the dead, a secret only his girlfriend (Addison Timlin) and the local police (Willem Dafoe) chief know. The young man can also spot malevolent forces called bodachs, who feed on pain and portent imminent death. When Odd sees them in spades surrounding a stranger, he finds himself in a race against time to avert a catastrophe."
Based on a series of novels by Dean Koontz, Odd Thomas stars Anton Yelchin, Addison Timlin, Willem Dafoe, Patton Oswalt, Curtis Jackson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, and Nico Tortorella. Stephen Sommers (The Mummy, G.I. Joe, Van Helsing) wrote the screenplay and directed the movie. Its likely that this trailer was created to help sell it at Cannes and wasn't intended to go public, so don't be surprised if the trailer doesn't stay online for too long.
