For the second week of October, I hope horror fans have their wallets ready, because there are a multitude of Blu-rays and DVDs that would be perfect editions to your home entertainment collections, especially with All Hallows' Eve being just right around the corner. The fine folks at Scream Factory are truly doing the dark lord’s work this Tuesday, as they've put together some incredible Collector’s Edition Blu-rays for both House on Haunted Hill (1999) and Michael Dougherty’s Trick ’r Treat.

As far as recent releases go, Hotel Artemis and Skyscraper arrive on various formats this Tuesday, and while they both may not be straight-up genre films, each of these films flew under the radar upon their theatrical releases, and I found them both to be a lot of fun and very much worth a watch (Skyscraper even has the good sense to turn Neve Campbell into an ass-kicker, which I just loved), so I felt like including them here. Also, for all the kiddos out there, Hotel Transylvania 3 hits multiple formats, too, right in time for some Halloween season viewings.

Other notable releases for October 9th include Ninja Zombie, The Evil Dead in 4K, Constantine: City of Demons, The Forest of the Lost Souls, Trashploitation, Bonehill Road, Along Came the Devil, and Welcome to Hell.

Hotel Artemis (Global Road Entertainment, 4K UltraHD/Blu Combo, Blu/DVD Combo & DVD)

Set in riot-torn, near-future Los Angeles, 'Hotel Artemis' follows the Nurse, who runs a secret, members-only emergency room for criminals.

House on Haunted Hill (1999): Collector’s Edition (Scream Factory, Blu-ray)

One night in the house, one million bucks, no questions asked. But there is a catch for anyone who accepts the offer. Murder is a way of life at the House on Haunted Hill, a jolting, effects-ramped remake of the 1959 cult classic that starred Vincent Price and was directed by screen horror legend William Castle. Geoffrey Rush plays twisted theme park bigshot Stephen Price, who’s hosting a scary/jokey birthday bash for his wife (Famke Janssen) at an abandoned institute for the criminally insane. Taye Diggs, Ali Larter, Bridgette Wilson, Peter Gallagher and Chris Kattan portray strangers mysteriously assembled for the event that could make them all very rich. Or profoundly dead. And you? We wouldn’t start the party without you.
