Over the last several weeks, IGN has unveiled six new short films set in the universe of the Alien franchise, with the final two films being released on the fourth annual Alien Day, and it's now been announced that attendees of Museum of Science Fiction's Escape Velocity 2019 will have the chance to see all six short films on the big screen.

Selected by 20th Century Fox and Tongal from more than 550 pitches, you can watch all six of the new Alien short films here (courtesy of IGN), and read on for details on when and where you can see them at the 2019 Escape Velocity convention.

Press Release: Washington, DC (April 26, 2019) – In celebration of the 40th anniversary of the release of Alien, the Museum of Science Fiction will screen all six of the new Alien Universe short films at its Escape Velocity 2019 convention, which takes place Friday through Sunday, May 24-26 at the Gaylord National Resort in Fort Washington, MD. 20th Century Fox selected these final winners from more than 550 entries submitted through the Tongal online platform.

“The original Alien was a masterpiece of filmmaking that is just as suspenseful and terrifying today as it was back in 1979,” said Keith Jodoin, vice president of media at the Museum of Science Fiction. “These new short films bring the same kind of atmosphere and intensity which have defined the series; and we're very excited to be able to show all of them on the big screen at Escape Velocity.”

One of a number of features at Escape Velocity designed to celebrate the film’s anniversary, the six Alien Universe shorts will be screened during the evening of Saturday, May 25. Another element takes place the night before, on Friday evening, with a panel discussion entitled “Alien: 40 Years of Fright;” with Charles de Lauzirika, director of the definitive documentary “The Beast Within: Making Alien” and producer of the Alien Anthology Blu-ray Collection.

“Ever since I was 11 years old and saw Alien opening night in 1979, through my time producing behind-the-scenes content for Ridley Scott, the Alien franchise has had a profound impact on my career and life,” said Lauzirika. “Getting to share my passion for the film and discuss its legacy and impact with so many science fiction fans at Escape Velocity is a high honor.”

The Alien shorts are roughly ten minutes each, were produced for mature audiences and will be screened in succession.
