We recently shared our thoughts on the first footage from the new IT movie that was unveiled at SXSW, and although we're still waiting to see the first trailer from New Line Cinema and Warner Bros., a new image from the film teases what looks to be Georgie Denbrough's encounter with Pennywise at the gutter one fateful, rainy day in Derry.

You can check out the new photo below, courtesy of Empire, and stay tuned to Daily Dead for the upcoming trailer, which we could potentially see in six days, according to a cryptic Instagram post by director Andrés Muschietti, who also told Empire that he won't be holding back with the presentation of Pennywise, aka IT (played by Bill Skarsgård):

"With Pennywise, it’s like, ‘This is the monster, I’m showing it to you... and you’re going to shit a brick.’”

IT is expected to be part of a two-movie adaptation, with the first film following The Losers’ Club as kids facing evil incarnate in the small town of Derry in the 1980s, with the second movie expected to focus on The Losers’ Club as adults once again tasked with defeating the malevolent entity that haunts their hometown… and their souls.

IT features Finn Wolfhard (Stranger Things) as Richie Tozier, Sophia Lillis as Beverly Marsh, Wyatt Oleff as Stanley Uris, Jeremy Ray Taylor as Ben Hanscom, Jack Dylan Grazer as Eddie Kaspbrak, Chosen Jacobs as Mike Hanlon, and Bill Skarsgård as the ancient evil known as IT, aka Pennywise.

Andrés Muschietti (Mama) directed IT from a screenplay he wrote with Gary Doberman, based on Stephen King's epic 1986 novel of the same name. Dan Lin, Roy Lee, Seth Grahame-Smith, and David Katzenberg are producing, with Jon Silk executive producing the project. IT is scheduled for a September 8th, 2017 release from Warner Bros. In case you missed it, check out our impressions of the IT footage from SXSW, as well as behind-the-scenes photos of The Losers' Club.
