MPI / Dark Sky Films acquired North American distribution rights for Sleep Tight earlier this year and we now have official release details. The Spanish thriller/horror film was directed by [REC] and [REC] 2 co-director Jaume Balagueró.

"MPI / Dark Sky Films are proud to announce Jaume Balagueró's critically-acclaimed Spanish shocker SLEEP TIGHT will be released simultaneously on VOD and in US theaters on October 26th, 2012 - just in time for Halloween.

Fresh off it's Best Screenplay win at this Summer's Fantasia Film Festival, SLEEP TIGHT is being called "an excellent, skin-crawling thriller" by Fangoria Magazine and "shudder-inducing" by Variety's Jonathan Holland, adding the film "is designed to give audiences sleepless nights."

Toiling silently amongst the residents of an everyday Barcelona apartment building, doorman Cesar (Luis Tosar) harbors a dark secret: his sole desire in life is to make others unhappy. When he sets his sights on Clara (Marta Clara), one of his building’s cheeriest residents, his sick need blossoms into a full-fledged obsession. Embarking on a series of private and physical violations against Clara, Cesar becomes determined to ruin her life by any means necessary. Becoming the boogeyman hiding under the bed and bringing her nightmares to life, his fascination with torment soon crosses the line into lunacy – and his thirst for others’ sadness soon becomes manically unquenchable.

Acclaimed Spanish director Jaume Balagueró, co-creator of the blockbuster [REC] series, delves into the perverse fantasies of a man on the brink, and delivers an unnerving tale of obsession and torment that delivers nonstop thrills right up to its shocking conclusion.

SLEEP TIGHT will also be part of Prgada's traveling Festival of New Spanish Cinema, which brings the latest powerful, innovative work of Spanish filmmakers to audiences across America."
