Rob Zombie is wrapping up his tour with Slayer and then he'll get started on his latest film, The Lords of Salem. While on the road, he's been talking about upcoming plans and what to expect from the movie. Continue reading to see what he had to say.

Rob Zombie posted the following update to his Twitter feed: "Watching LORDS OF SALEM SFX test footage. Holy fuck this is fucking sick shit. I hope everyone loves demented, perverted satanic movies."

Fangoria also posted a video interview with Rob Zombie today and here are some of the highlights:

-Rob Zombie said The Lords of Salem will be different from his previous films: "it's a much different type of movie... it's much darker than other films... this is kind of different... a little slower paced, a little more psychological, a little more supernatural... a lot more really..."

-After his tour ends, he's going right into pre-production on The Lords of Salem this month. The FX team has been working on the project for the last 6 months and Zombie plans to begin shooting in October.

-No one has signed on to star in the film yet, but Rob Zombie had just started the casting process.

-Rob Zombie noted that there is no specific release date and that he's glad that there isn't an "urealistic release date" locked in like he had with Halloween and Halloween 2. They are being given the time to "polish and make it perfect", but he expects that the film will be out in mid-late 2012.

“Heidi, a blonde rock chick, DJs as a local radio station, and together with the two Hermans (Whitey and Munster) forms part of the ‘Big H Radio Team’.

A myserious wooden box containing a vinyl record arrives for Heidi, ’a gift from the Lords’. She assumes it’s a rock band on a mission to spread their word. As Heidi and Whitey play the Lords’ record, it starts to play backwards, and Heidi experiences a flashback to a past trauma.

Later, Whitey plays the Lords’ record, dubbing them the Lords of Salem, and to his surprise, the record plays normally and is a massive hit with listeners.

The arrival of another wooden box from the Lords presents the Big H team with free tickets, posters and records to host a gig in Salem. Soon Heidi and her cohorts find that the gig is far from the rock spectacle they’re expecting: the original Lords of Salem are returning, and they’re out for BLOOD.”
