Ron Howard on The Dark Tower

The announcement of Ron Howard adapting Stephen King's The Dark Tower series came down before the opening of Daily Dead, but this is one of the big films franchises we're looking forward to. If you did not hear about this, Ron Howard is spearheading a trilogy of films with a TV series running between films that will all star the same actors. It is a pretty ambitious plan and no one has done something of this scale before, so hearing that things are still moving forward is a good thing. While talking to Deadline Hollywood, Ron Howard had this brief update:

"It is going well, and it has been incredibly stimulating to work on," Howard said. "It's dense, a great author's life work is not to be taken lightly. It has been utterly fascinating to explore it, and we are having great creative conversations. I've begun tossing and turning at 3 in the morning over it, so that's a good sign."

The plan is for the first film in the trilogy to be released in 2013, so hopefully this gives them plenty of time to get things right and we'll have plenty of updates along the way.
