**Updated with additional comments from Sam Raimi** Don't get too excited just yet, but Sam Raimi just dropped a big announcement regarding the possibility of a fourth Evil Dead film. During part of the press tour for Oz the Great and Powerful in London, Sam Raimi confirmed that he plans to work on an Evil Dead 4 script later this year:

Via Bleeding Cool: "I would love to make Evil Dead 4. My brother and I plan to work on the script this summer."

We're sure readers have just as many questions as well do, and we hope to have more answers as Raimi continues to promote Oz this month. The Evil Dead remake has been all Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell have been talking about, downplaying the return of Ash or a follow up to Army of Darkness. After this announcement, we wonder if the new movie will somehow tie into all of this.

Evil Dead has its world premiere this month at SXSW, so we should have much more information on the upcoming remake and a possible Evil Dead 4. Keep in mind that all of this is very early news. A movie going into production would rely on many factors, including upcoming projects that Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell become involved in, and how Evil Dead performs at the box office.

**Updated 3/3: Bleeding Cool followed up with Sam Raimi, who talked more about his plans to work on an Evil Dead 4 script:

"I’m afraid that every time I talk about it people get really mad at me when I don’t follow through with it. I would like to work on the script over the summer, that much is true. But the reason to come back and do it again is only that they’re making me, those fans.

I was saying to Ivan “Why do they stay on this thing? Why do they keep at it?” and he said “They want to make a movie. You’re a filmmaker and your fans are asking you to make the movie. What are you, an idiot? Make the movie!” I guess there’s something I don’t see. It makes sense when Ivan says it… but I didn’t have a tremendous amount of passion until right now to bring to it.

I love working with Bruce Campbell and Rob Tapert, I have so much fun making those movies, so… but the fans are really forcing me into it."
