Previously known as "Dibbuk Box", The Possession was expected to be released this October, but was pushed back to January 2012. Now, word has it that Lionsgate has further delayed the film's release until Aug 31, 2012. The reason for the date change is said to be based on Paramount's decision to release The Devil Inside on January 6th.

The Possession is produced by Sam Raimi, directed by Ole Bornedal and stars Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Kyra Sedgwick. “A recently divorced father’s youngest daughter becomes strangely connected to an antique wooden box she purchased at a yard sale. As his daughter’s behavior becomes more erratic, the father senses a dark presence building until he discovers that the box was built to contain a dibbuk — a dislocated spirit that inhabits and ultimately devours its human host.”
