When it comes to iconic, legendary actors in the horror genre, it's hard to top Sid Haig, and it is with deep sadness that we share the news that he has passed away at the age of 80.

On Instagram (see below), Sid Haig's wife, Suzie, shared the somber news that her husband has passed away, following the news earlier this month that Sid had an accident and was in the ICU.

While Haig is perhaps best known as Captain Spaulding from Rob Zombie's Firefly family trilogy (House of 1000 Corpses, The Devil's Rejects, and the recently released 3 From Hell), he's left an indelible mark on cinema with memorable roles over the past six decades, including Spider Baby or, the Maddest Story Ever Told, Galaxy of Terror, Jackie Brown, Night of the Living Dead 3D, The Lords of Salem, Hatchet III, Bone Tomahawk, and so many others.

It didn't matter how big his role was in a movie or TV series, if Sid Haig was playing it, you can guarantee that his character was one you wouldn't forget.

It's safe to say that the horror genre will never be the same without Sid Haig, but his memory and undeniable impact on the genre will live on, as well as the countless cherished interactions he had with fans on the convention circuit. Our thoughts are with Haig's wife, Suzie, and the rest of his family and friends during this difficult time.
