Telltale Games previously mentioned that they were planning to finish Episode 3 of The Walking Dead video game by the middle of August. With the month almost over, fans have been understandably worried that the game would not see a release in August. Telltale Games has provided a brief status update, revealing that the new episode has been finished and we could see it as early as next week:

"Episode Three: Long Road Ahead is in submission with our first party partners and we are anxiously awaiting a release date to be confirmed... We anticipate that this could be as soon as next week, and as soon as we have a confirmation on all platforms, we'll be letting everyone know as soon as it happens."

For those who are wondering why there is never a solid release date announced ahead of time, it's all about the certification process. With a boxed release, it is a bit easier to coordinate launch dates because you have enough time to prepare. For example, Resident Evil 6 is finished and it won't be released until October. With The Walking Dead video game, they try to release them as quickly as possible and then it's up to Microsoft or Sony to determine when it's ready to be released on their networks.
