Following a successful premiere as part of the Midnight selection at the Sundance Film Festival, S-VHS has been officially acquired by Magnolia Pictures. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the movie was picked up for more than $1 million, and it has been said that Lionsgate and Drafthouse Films were among the other companies interested in the film.

Magnolia acquired V/H/S last year for its Magnet Releasing label and we expect a similar release strategy for S-VHS. Their standard plans for genre films include a VOD release, followed by limited theatrical screenings, and a Blu-ray/DVD version down the line. Official release plans for S-VHS have not yet been announced, but we'll let readers know when anything is official.

S-VHS features segments directed by Simon Barrett, Adam Wingard, Edúardo Sanchez, Gregg Hale, Timo Tjahjanto, Gareth Huw Evans, and Jason Eisener:

"Searching for a missing student, two private investigators break into his abandoned house and find another collection of mysterious VHS tapes. In viewing the horrific contents of each cassette, they realize there may be terrifying motives behind the student’s disappearance. "

The cast includes Adam Wingard, Lawrence Levine, L.C Holt, Kelsy Abbott, and Hannah Hughes. We've included the teaser trailer below and we'll have more content from S-VHS later this year.
