The #100HorrorMoviesIn92Days Challenge Returns for Its 7th Year!

One of the best decisions I made last year was taking part in Sarah Stubbs' #100HorrorMoviesIn92Days Challenge. That may seem like hyperbole. It's not. I had a lot of personal struggles during recent years, including losing family members, and I just could not get into watching movies like I used to. I turned to comfort horror films that I had seen a dozen or hundred times, and missed out on new releases, and never got to those gaps or the ever-growing physical media stack.

But I love structure and a challenge, and this was the perfect way to reignite my love of cinema and discovering new horror gems. I was able to see movies that absolutely blew me away, like Eyes Without a Face, Cat People, Martyrs, Freaks, and I jumped around from silent films to obscure Universal movies from the 40s and anything else that caught my interest. In short, it was some of the most fun I had watching movies in a long, long time, and I'm still actively watching new films at a faster pace that I used to.

There's no real pressure (other than what you put on yourself). But it's a great reason to check out 100 horror movies you've never seen before. We all have gaps, and even if you don't get to 100, you'll find the experience worth it! I'm excited to join in once again this year, and here are all of the official details:

The #100HorrorMoviesIn92Days Challenge Returns for Its 7th Year

The popular horror movie challenge is going strong in its 7th year.

Glendale, Arizona – July 19, 2026 – Sarah Stubbs’ annual horror movie challenge, the #100HorrorMoviesIn92Days challenge is back like a horror movie sequel. Born out of boredom during the lockdown phase of COVID, the challenge continues to grow and is an annual tradition among more and more participants. It encourages folks to set aside watching only their comfort watches during Halloween season and find new favorites from films they haven’t seen before. The challenge also offers a Discord community for chatting with other participants and giveaway opportunities. Additionally, there will be weekly watch parties hosted on the server. 

The guidelines for this challenge are as follows:

• The challenge runs from August 1st through October 31st.
• The goal is to watch at least 100 horror movies in this time period.
• The films must be new to you. In other words, you have never seen it.
• Films must be at least 45 minutes to count.
• Films must be classified as horror by either Letterboxd or IMDb.
  • Exceptions will be made for gateway horror films (i.e.: Hocus Pocus, The Haunted Mansion, etc.) and documentaries about horror movies.
• While tv shows do not count for the challenge, films from series like Masters of Horror and Hulu’s Into the Dark are considered feature-length films and will count.
• This challenge isn’t a dictatorship, if a good case can be made for a film that doesn’t fall under the horror category, it can be brought to the server and discussed among participants for a majority ruling. There is a Letterboxd list for movies that have been approved of by the group.
• There is no limit to how many films must be watched per day or week, only that you should have at least 100 by the end of the challenge.
