A familiar face from The Conjuring 2 is coming back to reprise her haunting role in The Nun.

According to THR, Bonnie Aarons (Drag Me to Hell, Mulholland Drive) will once again play the demonic nun in New Line Cinema's The Conjuring 2 spinoff, The Nun, which will explore the backstory of the phantasmal force that Ed and Lorraine Warren encountered in England. The nun was added to The Conjuring 2 towards the end of shooting, when director James Wan came up with the idea for the creepy character played by Aarons.

Aarons joins a cast that includes Taissa Farmiga as a nun and Demián Bichir, who, according to THR, will play "a priest named Father Burke, who is dispatched by Rome to investigate the mysterious death of a nun."

The Nun is directed by Corin Hardy (The Hallow) from a screenplay co-written by James Wan and Gary Dauberman, with Wan also producing the project with Peter Safran. New Line Cinema has slated the film for a July 13th, 2018 release. Filming on The Nun is underway in Romania.

As fans of The Conjuring franchise know, this isn't the first character encountered by the Warrens to receive its own movie. In 2014, New Line released Annabelle, a film about the haunted doll faced by the Warrens (and eventually held behind glass in their museum). Annabelle: Creation, a follow-up to that movie, is scheduled to come out on August 11th, 2017, and was directed by David F. Sandberg (who also helmed Lights Out). Stay tuned to Daily Dead for more updates on The Nun.
