Moonstone Films, the production company behind The Howling: Reborn announced that Anchor Bay Entertainment has acquired the film for distribution. Written and directed by Joe Nimziki, The Howling: Reborn is being described as a reboot of the series with the following plot:

"On the eve of his high school graduation, unremarkable Will Kidman finally bonds with the girl he has long yearned for, reclusive Eliana Wynter. But he also discovers a dark secret from his past... that he is about to become a werewolf. Now, in an effort to fight destiny and save their love as well as their lives, they must battle not only Will's growing blood lust but an army of fearsome beasts bent on killing them... and then, us all."

"Before there was “Team Jacob,” there was Karen White and Nimziki’s reboot of The Howling saga is being described in industry circles as “Twilight with bite” with the deft mix of romance and action that audiences worldwide are craving."

From a business point of view, it's hard to pass on an opportunity to cash in on the success of the Twilight franchise. The problem is that you run the risk of alienating fans of the original film, which makes you wonder why they'd bother acquiring the rights to the "Howling" name in the first place if they are aiming for the Twilight crowd. Let's keep our fingers crossed that the "Twilight" bit was more of a tagline used to attract a distributor and less of an actual description of the tone of the movie.
