They search the universe for worthy prey, and in 2018, one of the galaxy's stealthiest species will bring the hunt to the big screen, as 20th Century Fox has set a release date for The Predator.
According to BoxOffice.com, 20th Century Fox will release The Predator in theaters on March 2nd, 2018. Plot details are unknown at this time, but the new Predator movie is expected to be more of a sequel than a reboot. Last summer, producer John Davis said that the script features a "fresh" perspective that will help "recreate" the franchise.
Shane Black, who played the wisecracking Rick Hawkins in John McTiernan's original Predator movie, will direct The Predator and is writing the screenplay with Fred Dekker (Night of the Creeps, The Monster Squad—a film he wrote with Black).
Throughout his filmmaking career, Black has delivered when it comes to character development and engrossing action. His directorial debut, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, has cemented itself as a must-see cult film, and Black's Iron Man 3 made a big splash in the box office. Black's next movie, the 1970s-set The Nice Guys, hits theaters on May 20th.
Including the AVP films, this will mark the sixth time the Predator has invaded cinemas, with its latest movie appearance coming in 2010's Predators. We'll keep Daily Dead readers updated on The Predator as more details are revealed.
