We're back with another round-up, this time with news on the horror, sci-fi, and thriller fronts. There's a possibility that we could see a key character from the upcoming The Walking Dead companion series pop up in the current series. Meanwhile, Babylon 5 fans should be excited by who's scribing Spike TV's upcoming Red Mars show and a new writer/producer has been added to SundanceTV's in-development Hap and Leonard series.

After catching their breath and facing threats of both the living dead and human variety in Father Gabriel's church and downtown Atlanta in the first half of Season 5 of AMC's The Walking Dead, Rick Grimes and company are on the road once again when the series returns on February 8th, and you can see them battle to stay alive and keep their hopes high in a new teaser trailer:

Ready to see what's happening outside of the Atlanta area in the living dead landscape of AMC's The Walking Dead? Robert Kirkman and company sure are, as the companion series is on the brink of rolling cameras on its newly assembled core cast. In a recent interview, Kirkman—the co-creator of the upcoming show and co-writer of the pilot—shed more light on the mysterious companion series.

If you haven't caught up on The Walking Dead comic book series lately, you really should. Robert Kirkman's "New Beginning" has introduced new survivors and a new type of enemy, and this is the most excited I've been for new issues in quite some time. For those that don't read the individual issues, Volume 23 is due out in April and we have an early look at the cover art, along with the cover for issue #140.

For longtime comic book fans, using Marvel and DC's mail-order subscription service was pretty common, but Image Comics never had such an offering... until now. Starting today, Image Comics is offering mail-order subscriptions for their titles through a service called Image Direct:

After the gut-wrenching events of The Walking Dead mid-season 5 finale, it looks like Rick Grimes and company will be on the move once again when the series returns in February. Hitting the road means the group will run across waves of walkers and scattered survivors, opening the door for new people to enter the show, such as actor Ross Marquand, who has joined the cast of The Walking Dead as a Season 5 regular.

Collectively comprising the first 96 issues of Robert Kirkman's seminal comic book series, the first two compendiums of The Walking Dead offer a cost-effective doorway to all the thrills, chills, and intriguing characters residing in the panels of Kirkman's living dead world. Next fall, readers both old and new to The Walking Dead can collect the latest one-third of the series with the release of The Walking Dead Compendium Three. We have a look at the upcoming compendium's cover art that features Negan, Lucille, Jesus, Dwight, and a few faces familiar to fans of the AMC TV series adaptation.

We're only about a month out from the return of The Walking Dead and AMC has released the key art for the second half of The Walking Dead Season 5, which reminds us that "The New World's Gonna Need Rick Grimes".

Though not as synonymous with Daryl Dixon as his crossbow, the motorcycle he rode in multiple seasons of AMC's The Walking Dead still comes to mind when one thinks of the fan favorite, like when he came to Carol's aid on his rumbling ride at the end of Season 2. The folks at Funko have revealed a new Pop! vinyl of Daryl Dixon's Chopper, immortalizing the living dead-slaying legend in true two-wheeled style.

Skybound and Wizard World continue to release new editions of The Walking Dead #1 at upcoming conventions. If you’re attending the Wizard World Portland show later this month, you can pick up the issue with new artwork from Steve Lieber:

Before the pouring of champagne, the vocal countdown as the ball drops, and the sharing of midnight kisses, New Year's Eve is a time to reflect on the events of the past year and the things to come in the year ahead. Beginning December 30th, AMC is giving viewers a chance to look back on the storied past four years of The Walking Dead with a massive marathon comprised of every episode of the series.

Last week it was revealed that The Walking Dead companion series will initially take place in Los Angeles, and early this month it was reported that Cliff Curtis will take on the show's male lead, leaving many to wonder who would be cast as the female lead. Fans don't have to mull that one over anymore, though, as it's been revealed that Gone Girl's Kim Dickens has been cast in the lead female role in the companion series.
