The Wicker Tree gets US Release

2011/05/05 13:49:03 +00:00 | Jonathan James

Fangoria received early notice that The Wicker Tree is being released by Anchor Bay Entertainment in the United States. While not a direct sequel, this is referred to as a companion piece to the original classic The Wicker Man.

Fans of the original may be quick to dismiss any kind of sequel, but in case you aren't aware, The Wicker Tree is written and directed by Robin Hardy who was responsible for directing the original. It is also said that Christopher Lee has returned for a cameo role in this film.

"Young Christians Beth and Steve, a gospel singer and her cowboy boyfriend, leave Texas to preach door-to-door in Scotland . When, after initial abuse, they are welcomed with joy and elation to Tressock, the border fiefdom of Sir Lachlan Morrison, they assume their hosts simply want to hear more about Jesus. How innocent and wrong they are."

There is no release date yet, but we should have a release date, disc details, and cover artwork soon. If you want to know more about the film's plot, you can watch a 2+ minute trailer at the official website for The Wicker Tree.
