Ti West teased a new horror film when talking to us last week and it has been officially announced. At this point, the plot is being kept a secret, but the film is being sold to foreign territories during TIFF, so we should have more details next week. Until then, all we know is that this is a horror project titled The Sacrament.
Worldview Entertainment will produce the film, along with Eli Roth, who had the following to say about the project: "We want to make this Ti's first mainstream movie, without sacrificing the quality and unflinching horror of the subject matter"
The Sacrament will shoot later this month in Georgia, so expect to hear much more about the film in the near future. Originally, Ti West was planning to direct a sci-fi film as his next project. He told us about his reason for taking on The Sacrament during a recent interview:
"The reality is that a science fiction movie is very expensive and is a long slow process. That’s very difficult for me, so while that process is going on, I’m going to do something else. Hopefully, we’ll be ready after that. You can’t cut corners when you’re building a spaceship. It costs what it costs and it can’t cost less. As we continue to put that together, I’m going to do a little side project... and I should say that “side project” is not actually a legitimate term. It’s going to be a legitimate project that I’m going to be filming this year."
