Last October, one man's curly hair, orange and black jack-o'-lantern suit, and energetic skeleton sidekicks made the Halloween season all the more special. That man was David S. Pumpkins, yet another iconic character in Tom Hanks' eclectic arsenal of performances. The enigmatic character's debut appearance was in the "Haunted House" skit on Saturday Night Live, but with another October nearly upon us, Hanks has teased the return of his new fan favorite character. "Any questions?!"
On Twitter (and posted on EW), Hanks shared what looks to be a script page from an upcoming episode of SNL, teasing a scene in which the mysterious David S. Pumpkins "magically brings pumpkins to life" in a "Sorcerer's Apprentice-type sequence."
Hanks, who has hosted SNL nine times, is currently not slated to host the show this season, but that wouldn't stop him from showing up in a special guest role. Should Pumpkins return, it would be the character's third time on the show if you count his appearance as "David S. Pimpkins" in the "Rap Song" music video in the season 42 finale. The 43rd season of SNL premieres on September 30th on NBC with Ryan Gosling as the host and Jay-Z as the musical guest.
Since David S. Pumpkins' first appearance on October 22nd, 2016, the character has become one of the new symbols of the Halloween season. His orange and black jack-o'-lantern suit has popped up as a costume in stores and his "any questions?" catchphrase has cemented itself in Saturday Night Live—and perhaps even pop culture—history. You can view Hanks' tweet below, and in case you missed it, we have the "Haunted Elevator" sketch as well. Would you like to see the return of David S. Pumpkins?
