A new addition to the cast of True Blood Season 6 has been revealed, and their first character details give us a idea of where the upcoming season is headed. According to TVLine, Arliss Howard (Pictured Below- Rubicon) has joined the cast as a series regular and will play Louisiana Governor Truman Burrell. Here are the first details about his character and they suggests that we'll see more government intervention in this season:
"The character is described as a good ol’ boy politician who has a major beef with vampires ever since his wife ran off with one, leaving him as a single father to their only daughter. Politically savvy and perhaps overly ambitious, Truman tends to let his personal aspirations overshadow his humanity."
Howard is joined this season by new cast member Rutger Hauer, who was previously revealed to be playing the role of Macklyn, “a mysterious and sinister figure with deep ties to Sookie and Jason." Robert Patrick has also been promoted to a series regular, so we'll see plenty of him as Alcide’s father in the show.
Series creator and showrunner Alan Ball is taking a step back from the show this season, although he remains on board as an executive producer and will consult on the creative direction of the series. True Blood‘s co-executive producer Mark Hudis has taken over as the new showrunner and filming is scheduled to begin early next year.
Unlike all past seasons, True Blood Season 6 will only contain ten episodes, unless plans change between now and the end of filming. Here is what Alan Ball had to say during a recent interview: “We’re moving production to January to accommodate her. And there will only be 10 shows next season partly because of Anna [due to her recent pregnancy] and partly because of the economics...”
