After thrilling and chilling viewers with The Haunting of Hill House (based on Shirley Jackson's novel of the same name), Mike Flanagan will return to Netflix for a second season, The Haunting of Bly Manor (based on Henry James' novella The Turn of the Screw). Ahead of its premiere next year, the first casting news has been revealed for The Haunting of Bly Manor, and it's a familiar face from The Haunting of Hill House.
Deadline reports that Victoria Pedretti will play the lead role in The Haunting of Bly Manor, with the news also being revealed by Pedretti herself in a new video (see below) shared on the show's official Twitter account. According to Deadline, Pedretti will play the governess, Dani, who watches over two peculiar orphans at a secluded mansion.
Mike Flanagan is expected to once again be at the helm of the new installment, with executive producer Trevor Macy, Amblin TV, and Paramount TV also on board.
The Haunting of Hill House fans will no doubt recognize Pedretti for her haunting and heartbreaking performance as Nell Crain in the first season, and she'll also play one of the lead roles in the upcoming second season of Netflix's You, as well as a supporting role in Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood.
With The Haunting series looking to follow the American Horror Story template of telling a new story each season, Flanagan could have the opportunity to work with other actors from the first season of The Haunting of Hill House, and we'll keep Daily Dead readers updated as more details are revealed.
