On June 5th, Insidious: Chapter 3 invades theaters everywhere. This prequel sees writer/co-star Leigh Whannell settling into the director’s chair for the first time ever and taking fans back to where it all started for beloved psychic Elise Rainier (Lin Shaye), as she helps a troubled teenager (Stefanie Scott) terrorized by a dark entity who wants to consume her soul.

At the recent press day, Daily Dead had the opportunity to speak with both Whannell and Shaye about the journey they’ve shared together onscreen (and off) while collaborating on all three Insidious films and how the series has evolved into a showcase for the character of Elise over the years, as well. The duo also chatted about what fans can expect from Insidious: Chapter 3, including how Shaye transforms into Rambo for her performance this time around.

Check out our video interview with Whannell and Shaye below, stay tuned to Daily Dead for our forthcoming review of Insidious: Chapter 3, and look for the horror prequel in theaters this weekend!

In case you missed it, Daily Dead also recently caught up with Insidious: Chapter 3 stars Dermot Mulroney and Stefanie Scott:
