You may want to brush up on your Mogwai rules and keep an eye on your snacks after midnight, because an animated Gremlins series is now in the works.

Variety reports that an animated series based on Joe Dante's 1984 movie Gremlins (written by Chris Columbus and starring Zach Galligan and Phoebe Cates) is in the works for WarnerMedia's yet-to-be-named streaming service.

According to Variety, the Gremlins series "is said to be a period piece that would follow Mr. Wing, the Chinese grandfather played in the films by Keye Luke, as a young man as he goes on adventures with the friendly Mogwai Gizmo."

Tze Chun (Cold Comes the Night, Gotham, Once Upon a Time) "is attached" to write and executive produce the potential series, which will be produced by Warner Bros. Television and Amblin Television. No other details are known at this time, but we'll be sure to keep Daily Dead readers updated as more information is revealed.
