Was there any doubt that Twilight would top the box office this weekend? The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 earned an impressive $139.5 million. Even though it didn't surpass New Moon's $142.7 million opening, Breaking Dawn now holds the record for the 5th biggest opening weekend.

Paranormal Activity 3 is close to passing the total domestic gross for the first film, but it doesn't look like it will make it. Paranormal Activity 3 placed 11th this weekend and has earned a total of $102.6 million. It needs to pass $107.9 million to overcome the total of the original Paranormal Activity.
