Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides opened this weekend, earning an estimated $90 million domestically and almost $350 million worldwide. The US numbers are a bit lower than expected, most likely due to mixed critical reaction and higher 3D ticket prices. By comparison, the third Pirates film earned $114 million in its first weekend, without 3D ticket prices to boost their totals.
Bridesmaids came in at number 2, earning $21 million, and knocking Thor down to the third spot. Priest brought its total domestic gross to almost $24 million, after earning $4.6 million this weekend.
