Ted easily claimed the number one spot at the box office weekend with $53.1 million. This is the first movie from Family Guy's Seth MacFarlane and beat industry expectations with one of the biggest openings for an original R-rated film. Magic Mike also performed much better than expected, taking second place with $39.1 million.
The Avengers may have been knocked out of the top 10, but it crossed the $600 million mark this week, making it the 3rd highest (unadjusted) grossing film of all time behind Avatar and Titanic.
